This kit is over engineer, many parts come as separate pieces when they could have been moulded as one piece, The high part count makes for a slow build 🙁 The engine, barrel, crew compartment and main tub have been built and a layer of paint laid down. Now these sub-assemblies can be joined up 🙂

Looks like a few days of fun ahead Dave!

Hi James. Interesting is one word for it, I am wrestling with a major fit issue right now, pics to follow 🙁

Peter Hardy
Do you need to borrow a hammer Dave?
14 February 2018, 02:06
Andrea Morris
A hammer, Peter? Take a look and MIND THE GAP! I've never built a Bronco kit before and I don't think I ever will again if this is what you get. It's going to take half a tube of filler 🙁

The fit issue is resolved, she is now all built (except fuel tanks, wheels & tracks) and is in primer 🙂

What happened to Daisy?
18 February 2018, 21:03
Andrea Morris
OK I'm stumped, who is Molly and Daisy???
18 February 2018, 21:09
Tim Heimer
They are from early 80's tv and movies. Apparently mostly American. Daisy Duke from Dukes of Hazzard, Molly Ringwald, From breakfast club, Pretty in pink, Sixteen candles, ect

I was an impressionable youth Dave. Testosterone imbalance. Not sure it ever settled down.

Looking good. So the gap was a miss fitting?
14 March 2018, 22:11
Andrea Morris
I am embarrassed! There is no fit issue, on the next page of the instructions it shows the fitting of a part that covers the gap 🙂

nice project so far and a clean build so far... Was wondering what the gap was, but is was just a RTFM-moment... Hobby Boss, has nice kits, maybe over-engineered, but very nice....

Andrea Morris
Ok Ok, thanks for the ribbing guys, yeh I stuffed up, this is a fine kit with NO issues!

Dave, marks on the Casemate sides, are they casting marks or small arms damage?
27 March 2018, 23:58
Andrea Morris
Good question. As they do not appear anywhere else on the model, I am guessing that they are cast marks?
28 March 2018, 00:15
Peter Hardy
That's going to give you a problem isn't it? They are all very 'round' . Maybe you have something to add to the 'story'? Everything else is pristine. What got me thinking was I immediately assumed they were small arms damagebecause of the shape. It has no marks on the mantle at all though. So then I thought casting blemishes but they are all so circular. Look forward to how you will deal with it!

Very taken with the colour and I like the darker green. Most Russian tanks, mine included, are far too light coloured. Your deeper forest green Suits forest fighting perfectly! Weathering the wear on the access points is bloody perfect as well. Love it so far Dave!

I'm not sure Peter, Cast marks or small-arms fire? Mmmm... I have taken a close-up picture, does this change your view? The colour is MRP 4BO Russian green. I cannot recommend MRP paints highly enough 🙂

Peter Hardy
I'll go with casting imperfections given the lack of small arms damage on the mantle right next to it. Your photography is getting better by the way. See? You can teach an old Welshman new tricks!

A little more progress on this as the weathering work continues. I also have one side of the Fruill tracks made up. All very slow going!

Why are you taking your time on this? you should be Russian it! LOL! Looking good Dave!

Thanks for the comments guys, you lot are a HOOT! The carpet monster ate 2 wheels & pins, I have found all bar 1 pin so the wheels are still off & un-painted while a scratch build a new pin.

Dave, take your shoes off and walk through barefoot. You'll find it!

Album info

The Germans hoped to weaken the Soviet offensive potential for the summer of 1943 by cutting off the forces that they anticipated would be in the Kursk salient. The Kursk salient or bulge was 250 kilometres (160 ml) long from north to south and 160 kilometres (99 mi) from east to west. The plan envisioned an envelopment by a pair of pincers breaking through the northern and southern flanks of the salient. Hitler believed that a victory here would reassert German strength and improve his prestige with his allies, who were considering withdrawing from the war. It was also hoped that large numbers of Soviet prisoners would be captured to be used as slave labour in the German armaments industry.
