Hello Denis,
There is a decal with Russian words "HAGAPOBCHNN KOMCOMOA" on my model. Could you tell me the meaning?
 21 August 2024, 12:01
Denis Dogadov
Hello Austin!
The inscription on the plane-"Хабаровский комсомол" (Khabarovsk Komsomol) it means that the plane was built with money raised by young residents of the city of Khabarovsk.
Komsomol is an organization of young communists in the USSR.
Several such aircraft were built, so the inscriptions could be different.
I do not know how to insert a photo into this message, so I will insert it into a photo album, then delete it.

Dear Denis,
There is a big bomb in 1st photo. It is also included with in the model kit. What is that bomb? FAB2000 or 2500?
 22 August 2024, 15:24
Mr D
Nice craft, the extra detail work paid off.
Really like the Soviet belly blue 👍👍
Well done 👌😁

Hello Austin!
I like your willingness to figure things out.
It's not a bomb, it's an aviation naval mine. It is very well made in this set.
I think no one else makes her model.

You can read about the mine here-

Welcome Kesa & Robert. 🙂
Kesa Mrs Gorby is used to my plastic passion obsessions. 😄
And yes it does look a bit like a tuk tuk. Incidentally there have been a couple of screw up so far but obviously I won't be telling everyone as I want to make it look like I know what I'm doing. 🙂

Hi Gorby 👋
Another interesting one 😃👍
Nice project, they used 3wheel trucks like these at Cadburys factory as they need tighter turning circles round the plant.

 2 December 2024, 22:40
gorby
Glad you're tagging along Mr D.
Their turning circle was one of the reasons they where so successful. Do you have any association with Cadburys - other than eating their products of course. 🙂

Remember these trundling down Zetland Road and Linthorpe Road from the train station. BR and their parcel/freight division use to operate them.

That will be another session of scratch modeling of famous (with 30,000 it must be famous) British cars 👍 So ugly that they begin to be beautiful.

Hi Frank, they certainly are famous in Britland...although probably only with men of a certain age. 😄

Hi Gorby...No just eating 😂 l live not far from factory n seen documentary on it too.
Like the project 😁👍

Thanks Mr D.
Been on their factory tour, as a chocoholic it was wonderful. 🙂

One interesting thing to have in mind is that Gorby set to build the ancient 1962 tool of the Scarab and scratch the Mechanical Horse precisely when there appeared recent (and immeasurably better, as for the Scarab - I guess) 3d-printed 1:72 kits of both the Scarab and the French relatives of the MH (i.e. FAR tractors)... But that's Gorby (much to our delight!) 👍
 3 December 2024, 11:32
gorby
THERE'S 3D PRINTED KITS!!!??? 😄 😄
I'd be too tight to buy them anyway.
I'm about a month into the build so far and quite enjoying it....mostly.
 3 December 2024, 11:44
Alex K
We know you would enjoy this - and we enjoy too... Plus: if you are going to turn the Scarab into a wrecker / recovery vehicle (!!!)... extra joy. Very Gorby-esque work! 👍 👍

Good grief, I appear to have attracted a crowd. 😳
I didn't realise the Robin was globally infamous. That would be a great idea Jan if I can find a cheapish 1/76 one. 😄
Thanks all for taking an interest. 🙂
 4 December 2024, 08:05
Alec K
Taking a seat. The nasties the kit, the more Gorby likes it… I'll forgo spelling out the logical conclusion from this. 😄 😄 😄
 4 December 2024, 15:22

😄 😄 😄
Welcome to the show Alec. I have some nice kits in my mini stash, for some reason they keep being overlooked. Maybe I choose kits which make scratch-building feel like an easier option. 😄

Thanks mates....as usual I'm playing catch-up with the build report.
(I'll let you into a secret. I don't start the report until I have a very good idea that things might work out. If I'd completely screwed up - you'd never know about it.) 😳
 4 December 2024, 18:45
Mr D
🤣🤣 prevention better than cure 😜
Where about in the UK were they produced ?
I vaguely remember the 3 wheel electric milk floats as a kid.
 4 December 2024, 19:36
gorby
I think they were built at Scammell Lorries Ltd in Watford.
In fact there is now a road in the area called Scammell Way.
Typical of Britain, close the factory and name a new road after it to remind us that we used to actually make stuff. 🙁
 4 December 2024, 19:44
bughunter
Your 'secret' is a good idea: start a build report lately not only shows a success, but also makes the build look quick! Must copy this idea 😉
 5 December 2024, 09:30

The one down side is that as I only do one project at a time it looks like I'm doing bugger all for about a month. 😄

Nice to see this kit. Build the Scammel Scarab as a youngster from Airfix. And looking at the sprues I would say these are from the the former Airfix kit.
Have fun building it 😉
 13 December 2024, 12:28
Alec K
Great progress and entertaining narrative 🙂. The trailer wheels turned out nice, I can't imagine making something like that. Just curious: why not make one and cast a copy (I think you have done that in the past)? Or does this have to do with that logical thing…
 13 December 2024, 13:59
gorby
Thanks for the comment mates. 🙂
Lex: Yes this is from the old Airfix kit. Quite enjoying the build so far - although that's probably because most of the build is scratch work. 😄
Alec: Typically the trailer wheels look like a different size to the other wheels in the kit which is why I had to cobble something together rather than cast them. I've been meaning to try and scratch wheels for a while so it was also a bit of an experiment. Hopefully future ones will be better.

Love the subject and the build. Not really knowing what I'm talking about I'd say it's as british as british can be
 13 December 2024, 15:50
gorby
Thanks Michael. You're quite right, they are as quirkily British as it's possible to be and unlike most quirky British vehicles these were a actually successful. 🙂
 13 December 2024, 16:00
Mr D
Like what you have done so far, good thinking on utilising items , l always look at a item before l throw it away to see if it could be useful.
My fire extinguisher handle was just offcuts laying in my scrap tub., ps it finished now will photo tomorrow.
Your right...a MC Donald's or frozen pizza box would be bit out of place 🤣 Fire ash, tin cans, spud peel n bit of dog poo most likely 😄.
Quite rewarding the scratch build l imagine.
Looking good 👍👍

I have to fight against an inherited hoarding gene, so it's a bit of a fine line I have to walk with saving odd and sods for scratching.
At the moment it's very enjoyable project. It's helping to keep my grey matter from seizing up completely, working out how to make something from a pile of bits.

Really creative way to make rubbish. Im honestly surprised at how well you can DIY and scratch stuff, top notch stuff. Either way the progress is nice.
Also if you don't mind me asking, what operation did your missus go through? Having to administer blood thinners sounds pretty serious.
 22 December 2024, 16:00
gorby
Thanks Kesa. 🙂
Mrs Gorby had a hip replacement op. Normally she'd just need medication for the blood thinning but fortunately for my scratch-building junk pile, they thought injections would be better.
Okay, that makes me sound like a bad person. 😄

Progress has been slow. I have a problem with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) so everything slows down including brain and enthusiasm. Particularly enthusiasm. It's the part of the year I have more difficulty working out how to make parts and usually the first or second attempts end in disaster before something passable emerges.
Perhaps I should drum into myself "Must do KITS in the winter…. Must do KITS in the winter..."

It was quite a good mask Frank, it's now black on the outside but completely white inside. Mind you my entire workshop* is completely covered in a fine black dust which I haven't had the enthusiasm to clean up yet. Maybe tomorrow.....or the day after. 😄

It's great what's being created again - the kit base seems to be a challenge.
Good succeed!
1  25 January, 09:13
gorby
Thanks Marko.
Of the two builds, I'm finding the kit conversion (the Scarab) to be more of a challenge than the full scratch-build (The Mechanical Horse & trailer) which isn't what I was expecting at all.
 25 January, 09:29
gorby
Still progressing slooooowly. These tiny 1/76 bits seem to take longer to make than they do in larger scales. 1/48 feels huge in comparison and 1/35 would probably blow my mind.
This update means the Mechanical Horse is now complete, yaaaaaayyyy. 🙂
Eeeerm, except the tiresome colouring-in bit of course. 🙁

gorby, your pic 73 reminds me an old joke:

Gets better every time 👏, the old bin wagon used to have a storage bucket on the side... remember they had brooms n couple shovels...for when the stuff fell everywhere,
I remember they used to come round the back of the house open the gate "which they never closed" and Cary the old black rubber type bin on there back, they used to hopp on the side of the wagon between streets " Before Health n safety 🤣" most bin-men were on the sick with bad backs before 50.
Remember the heavy rubber lids that said "No Hot Ashes"
No faffing getting it built 🤣 famous word's.
Great work so far 😀👍

Mr D: I'm old enough to remember the predecessor to the black plastic bins, the galvanised steel ones – the ones which rusted and sometimes when they were picked up the bottom fell out. Thankfully they were replaced before I started to work nights because bin day used to be a very noisy business. 😄
Thanks to everyone again. 👍

@Alec K. Try the Dustbinmen, you can get episode's on You Tube. A late sixties, early-ish seventies sit com. The cart was nicknamed Thunderbird 3. I think it was written by Jack Rosenthal , which I think he wrote London's Burning too.

I'm slowly getting the the finish line. Someone pointed out this nice video about the Scarab which shows what a game changer it was (why does everything on YouTube have to claim it's a 'GAME CHANGER!!!!!' and when you watch it seems they've only found the cure for insomnia.).

Nice magnifiers! I have been using an optivisior in conjunction with 3+ magnification readers for years. The trick is not to let anyone see you wearing that. What magnification is that Amazon find you are sporting?

I went to Zenni optical website and got on the online chat. Told the person I wanted glasses with my short distance correction for doing close up intricate work with +2 magnification. He helped me adjust my prescription to this and they made me a set for $35 that are an amazing help.

Ben: The new eyes cost me £35. The built in LED light is a revelation as much as the better vision. The old mag glasses had a light but the extra batteries made it too heavy and very uncomfortable to wear so I didn't put batteries in it. The new one has a rechargeable battery built in which make it much more comfortable. Which is just as well as I need it for about 90% of my modelling now.

Sorry about my tardiness in updating this album, blame my daughter. I keep telling her I've retired and should be leading a life of leisure but that apparently means nothing to daughters. I can't hold her entirely to account as I've been pruning a tree this morning. I can be a bit, errm, lets say "vigorous" when it comes to pruning. The trees probably think of it more as a near-death experience 😳 . Is attempted arborecide a thing?
Aaaannnnyyyway, the fun is over. Now it's time to suffer. Yes I've arrived at the colouring-in bit where I traditionally snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. 🙁

I think Mrs Gorby wouldn't be impressed if I sent our daughter to a different continent so I could spend more time playing with plastic. Might be worth considering though. 😄

It is a mark of a good and happy marriage when one cannot leave their better half at their time of need. I agree with Spanjaard - there will be another EME, but the chance to be with our better half and nurse them back to health is more important…

Additional information: Frowned upon by many, I use Revell Aqua paints and like them. Unfortunately, the range is not very complete. My imitation of RAF Interior Green is Revell Aqua Olive Green toned down with White. I'm quite pleased with the result (comes across a bit dark in the photos).

You wrote in the project description: "The shape of the „1" in the serial number is wrong." What is the height of the number? Should I try to cut masks?

Jennifer Franklin
Following 👀
 23 January 2024, 22:10
Kenneth
Thanks, I may get back to you. It's 5 mm high. They cut off the upper right-hand corner of the „1" so that it is angled at 45 deg. It should be a 90 deg angle. I'm contemplating „repairing" that corner it with small section of a white stripe from TL Decals. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it …
 23 January 2024, 22:14
bughunter
Hmm, 5mm is very small for a cutting plotter. Could be tried but I cannot promise anything. Maybe your decal solution will work better.
 23 January 2024, 22:39
Kenneth
Yes, I have my doubts too, having seen what plotters can do. We will see, but many thanks for the offer nonetheless.
 23 January 2024, 22:43

Don't worry about your speed Kenneth. There is no deadline. All that matters is that you are satisfied with the result and enjoy the time spend. BTW, you are much faster than I am.
So far it's locking very nice.
 11 February 2024, 10:55
Jennifer Franklin
I don't think speed is necessarily the goal Kenneth. You are also faster than me. I hope you are enjoying yourself and, as Nicolas said, that you are happy with your result. It's looking good so far.

Nice looking cockpit! I built the Mk.X boxing and wondered the same thing about the floor/bulkhead fit… I probably have some spare Stoppel decals if you need a '1'.

 16 March 2024, 18:06

Another accuracy issue with the kit, which I only realised lately, is the rear cockpit bulkhead. Seems that KP retained the solid bulkhead from the (pressurized) PR Mk. X, which is incorrect for the (unpressurized) PR Mk. XI. Oh well 🙄

The chipping looks good, athough I would add a bit more to the bottom of the fuselage-side camera panel. From the pics I have seen, it looks like there is a lot of wear from loading and removing the cameras. I haven't tried the AK pencils, but have used the Prismacolour Silver before.
How do you like the PeeWit masks?

very nice spitfire.
in regards to using turpentine, that you said you may use next time, I suggest testing in some old model before trying in a almost finish one... I did used it (maybe used too much since I was using oils for weathering) and the model started to break in some points, it was not a pretty experience, I can tell you that.....

Incredible idea! This device is a first in many things. Starting with the fact that it is the first time something like this has flown to another planet. Who knows, this is a planet inhabited only by robots. The last interesting thing is that his disaster is the first one investigated on another planet. I look forward to seeing the finished model..

I'm not sure I can fit all the parts to make it accurate. It's very small.
 18 January, 23:05
Jennifer Franklin
It's so small
 19 January, 01:12
Skyhiker
Yes, at 1:72 scale it is less than a centimeter tall and the propellers are about 2cm wide in total.
 19 January, 02:19
Skyhiker
I had a real scare when I was priming the model today and it flew out of my tweezers. I couldn't find it anywhere and it took a half an hour before I saw it stuck to my sock! Lucky nothing got broken.
2  19 January, 18:37
bughunter
Nice progress on this little heli 👍 Do you find pictures for the coloring?
 19 January, 18:49
Skyhiker
Hi bughunter, yes there seems to be enough photos around but the drone went through several redesigns before it went to Mars. For example the foil was gold for a while. The rotor blades' nubs were both pointing up at one point. Little things like the feet changed and the size of the battery and solar panel. I always have to go back and check the Mars mission photos to make sure what I am doing is correct.
2  20 January, 00:06
Skyhiker
I'm very close to having this done. Let's hope no catastrophes happen before it is mounted and framed.
1  9 February, 02:32
Живко Джаков
It won't be a precedent. As we've already commented, NASA crashed, so this won't be the end of the project 🙂. And one question. Where did you get your Martian soil from? Isn't the source of the survini too far away?
 9 February, 10:07
Skyhiker
Ok. After a few last minute repairs, of course I knocked off two propellers and the antenna while mounting it to the diorama, I 've finished this.
1  9 February, 12:43
gorby
Very nice work! The last photo made me laugh.
 9 February, 12:48

I'd like to have better photos but it's so small the camera on my phone can't do it justice.

Thanks guys. Now I am considering doing an even smaller model: I might make the Sputnik satellite in 1:72 scale, it would only be 8 mm!
2  13 February, 22:42
Skyhiker
After doing further research I realized that the Sputnik satellite in 1:72 scale, would be bigger than this. Only the ball is 8 mm but with the antennas it would be bigger.

Jennifer, I bought a cheap metal frame for 3 euros. To extend the depth of the frame I made an outer box out of 3mm MDF sheeting that someone was throwing away. Then I made an inner box out of MDF to hold the model. The middle between the two boxes is filled with cardboard for support. After I hot glued this all together I printed images of the Mars surface which I designed on the computer and the label so people will know what they are looking at. The black matt I cut out of paper. The front of the frame slides up if I ever need access to the model, which I may, because I will probably fill the gaps at the base of the model with sand since those black lines on the sides annoy me.

 30 November 2024, 14:57

Hey Felix, a very promising start. Unfortunately I can't give you any tips on the interior color, I only know that with American aircraft it sometimes depends on the factory, as the same type was painted differently in different factories.

Great work, can I ask how you went about the weighting? I tried lots of small lead fishing weights with my Airfix Mitchell but ended up having to fill not only the tiny area given but also the room, behind and just below the cockpit, also behind the control panel and part of the room just behind the cockpit, every space I could find. I'm new to building American bombers, all the RAF ones sit on their tail wheel. Do you or any of the people who have commented have any better ideas than lead? I'm really looking forwards to seeing this project develop (especially as I have the kit myself and need all the tips I can get). Thanks Richard. Following.

1  25 January, 00:45

Dear Boywellum
Both the Mitchell and the Liberator require lots of weight. I bought liquid gravity but it's not heavy enough for the space provided. But there is an ladder for the entry door which will serve as a stand. So i have to go with that!
1  25 January, 06:55
boywellum
Thanks Felix, that is very kind of you, these kits must have been designed with something in mind for them to work with the actual spaces provided but I have never found a definitive answer anywhere. If any other of the contibutors to your most excellent post have any ideas that would be much appreciated. Maybe Airfix expect us to mix some concrete and pour that in 😉 Cheers Felix, BW
1  30 January, 02:46

Dear BW, some modellers work with fishing weights or lead? I haven't, unfortunately.
1  30 January, 06:14
Nicolas
Great progres. 👍
Years ago I build the old Revell /Monogram Liberator in 1/48. I decided to glue some lead at the rear side of the engine firewalls. It helped, but wasn't enoght (I forgot the lead at the nose wheel bay).
1  30 January, 06:23
Felix
@Nicolas, that must have been a big bird! I struggle to put this 1/72 Liberator into the paintbooth 🙂
I am glad this kit provides a ladder as support. I bought liquid weight for this build but it's not as compact as i hoped it would be and wouldn't do the job with the spaces provided.
 30 January, 07:11
Tony Tonov
Hi Felix,
I usually use fishing weights, the lead is more dense and has high specific weight. I fill all available space and fix it with PVA glue.
There are also aftermaket sets for the front interior, casted in white metal and intended to replace the plastic part:
B-24 Liberator Landing Gear ..aft Conversions 72009, 1:72)
This one however is designed for Hasegawa kit and most likely won't fit on Airfix one.
If non of this helps, I add more weight in front of the engine bays. This worked for me on my both Mitchell and He-219 (which btw is notorious tail-sitter kit).

 30 January, 19:00

Hi Felix, no, I built the old Liberator Airfix kit a while ago and had similar issues with the nose weight. I ended up using the ladder for the back door too 😄
1  31 January, 06:56
Pacific Strafer
Hi Felix, I built the Hasegawa Liberator kit same years ago. I built a box in the nose of the plane around the nose gear and filled the entire space with lead shot. I also glued some lead sheets into the hidden area of the radio operator's room. You can find pictures of this in this report -> modellversium.de/gal..d=8276&origin=mb

Dear Tony, Alberto, Pacific Strafer and Martin, thanks a lot for all the nice comments and advice regarding weight! With this build i will have to go with the ladder in the rear section, it is what it is.

Wondering if your yellow issue can be fixed by laying down pink, then another coat of Humbrol 24?
1  7 February, 08:34
Tony Tonov
@Alec K, indeed, I usually underspray the yellow areas with pink, when I am looking for a warmer shade of the yellow.

@Felix, if you can mask the areas safely, I'd recommend to spray light layer of pink and then yellow. There are no decals there, aren't they?
1  7 February, 09:20
Felix
Dear @Alec K and @Tony, thank you for your advice and help! I would overspray the yellow areas, but what about the number? They will pop out all the more.
@Tony, there is no decal for large upper area in yellow, unfortunately.
1  7 February, 13:09
Tony Tonov
@Felix, you may leave the tail fins as they are. Do overspray only over the horizontal stabilizer. With this pink base you would target to match the "paint" yellow color with "decal" yellow.
1  7 February, 14:29
Alec K
👍 as Tony said. If you are worried about loosing your preshading, you could apply it over the pink, before applying the yellow again. Or even between final yellow coats 👍.
Should be easy to mask off again, I think?

Hello Desert Marlin, thank you for your comments and your constant support here. I hope, I chose the right colors and techniques for this scheme. I haven't done anything like this before, so this is a absolutely first for me. I have some good ideas how to do this, but if it'll work out - I don't know! 😂

Very interesting that you lived just around the corner. The world is a very small place, As far as I know, this picture here was taking in Tucson. Right? But I also have some good references from Mojave, where it was converted into a QRF. Here you'll find the other pictures: flickr.com/photos/ph..s/72157640744823115/

And yes, this is a challange: 😂 Not only painting-wise, but also kit-wise. The RF-4s from Hasegawa seem to have more fit issues than the regular F-4s.

I'll keep you updated on the porgress!

Thank you very much for your comments, Skyhiker and Patrick.

@Skyhiker: Yes, a few builds ago I started to use Uschi van der Rosten's airbrush stencils for preshading more regularly. I had them in my drawer for years, but I never used them. But they save a lot of time and the result is great. And I want to step away from only white preshading. I noticed that I get a better result from the preshading, when I use different colours.
1  19 February, 17:07
Desert Marlin
Yes, the mountain in the background is the Rincon Mountain on the edge of Tucson, Arizona. The Saguaro National Park (East Campus) is at the base of the mountain. I lived about 2.5 miles from the Park. There is an 8 mile loop in the park that I would ride my bike in. Wonderful place!

Thank you very much, tyu and Sergej.

@tyu: I know they had no seats when they were flown remote. There actually was a sidewinder warhead in the rear cockpit for self destruction purposes! 🤪
The only pictures I found for 68-599 as a drone, were from Mojave, were she was converted to a drone and still had two seats for the transfer to Tyndall. This is the state I'm building her!

Hi Sb,
I was referring to the extra QF items (the big flip switch board) in the front cockpit, not the empty seat(s). And your pictures from Flickr show the required tail fin modifications.
 22 February, 19:29
tyu
And I forgot to mention the required wingtip modifications as also visible in you Flickr images.
 22 February, 19:39
S B
Thanks for the advice, tyu. I plan is to scratchbuild these parts later. When I glue them on already, I know I will break them probably several times until I finish the model. 😂
 22 February, 19:47
S B
@tyu: And thank you by the way for the picture of the cockpit. It's the first time that I've seen this flip switch board. I wasn't planning on that until now!
 22 February, 19:57
tyu
You are welcome S B, and I understand leaving off certain items for a more easy build. The conical shaped rear fin top fairing or wing tip mods would not be the one included on that list if it would be mine: no chance to break that IMHO. You have the non-QF shaped rear fairing depicted at the moment. The QF one is circular as visible in your Flickr album with a flat round rear-end, yours (as currently depicted) has flattened sides and a tapered rear-end. And there is that circular horizontal antenna to the front of the fin cap that is missing on your build as well at the moment. The devil is in the details. For a good representation please have a look at the (sadly now defunct) BAM Models items for a QF-4E: BAM48096E. Please note that some items in this set are not required for your build. Front IP, intake- and wing tip mods and fin tip would be correct though.

I've build the trailer for my 10 ton Afrika korps halftrack; a dog and a figure, but they all need more paint work, and yes everybody knows I'm a slow modeller, I don't hide it, but I expect to return to the bench soon.

Looks nice 👍 I only build aircraft models, but have been thinking about getting this kit and doing something similar, namely build it in the red/aluminium colours of my 1:1 1996 Caterham (which also has cycle wings).
 17 February, 17:00
Paul Stubbs
I really should do the proper wings but I'm not sure how I could make them. I have ordered proper bucket seats and belts though and will replicate the roll hoop and braces of my original 🥰. Just a bit of fun really as I sold the car about 10 years ago.

Paul, I'd look at motorcycle mudguards/fenders and see if you can get something similar? Maybe even 3d printed?
Just a thought mate.

The mudguards on this might be suitable?

The beginning, the supports are only put together, a gluing comes next. The kit is ABS and requires special glue, I will use Tamiya

Thank you Greg 🙂

The tips of the model are indeed not without, I have already drilled a tip into my finger 😄

The original model is from a DEFA movie of the 60s. It is about an expedition to Venus, on which the crew finds out that the civilization there has wiped itself out by an atomic catastrophe. The film can also be seen in the context of the Cold War. You can read more here ==>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Silent_Star

After a forced break, my order for a spaceship for a small movie was renewed. However, the model is to have a different color than the original from the film. The base color is Tamiya TS-14 from the spray can. The final coat will be a color from Vallejo's Colorshift series, 72.014 Old Gold Grey Violet, as you can see in the last picture. This is needed for effects in the shots.

Very interesting, I'll follow. Good luck with the canopy.
 9 February, 20:05
Skyhiker
Thanks Nicolas, the canopy will be a challenge. I sanded out the blemishes on the kit part but there are stress fractures and a crack going through it. I'll have to see if I can vacuform it but there is a ball turret behind it that would be a different thickness and I doubt I could vacuform a ball turret.

I have this kit (with extra parts), I hope this turns out well!
 10 February, 22:17
Skyhiker
Welcome Dave. So far I like the kit.
 10 February, 23:17
Skyhiker
After putting the ball turret together I realized that it would be very risky and way too much work to try and vacuform it. So it looks like I will have to use the damaged canopy because I don't want to mix and match glazing thickness.

Łukasz Gliński
Interesting kit, way better looking than I thought. But the transparencies are a bummer indeed
 12 February, 13:31
Skyhiker
I only paid 5 euros for it so I guess I can't complain when the canopy is a mess. I bought someone's entire stash and it was one of the kits in there. Hopefully after it's painted it won't be too bad.
 12 February, 13:50
Cuajete
I always had in mind to buy this kit, but I forgot about it because I think it has some problem or difficulty (maybe those transparent parts? 🤔). I hope for a better tool in the future.

Well done so far.

Sorry to see that; what combination of paint and setting solution resulted in this?
 22 February, 13:04

3rd generation paint and varnish with Mr. Mark Softer. The decals were shit and I probably used too much solution. I ended up having to brush paint over the decals and problem areas.
