Tugboat Jean Bart
The buildt so far, most of this is dryfit...
Close up of the deckhouse, still a lot of details to ad here,
Rear of the deckhouse and base of the mast,
The anchorwinch with added control wheels, slightly to large but the only ones I had,
Radar mast with PE parts added,
Capstan with extra details added
Adding lighting to the exterior and the necessary cabling
Now what is this bit...
A replacement for the hoist block at the stern
More lights and cables on the side of the superstructure
Finally I found pictures showing the top of the exhaust, so I changed it again
Still more details are being added, Bands that overlap the horizontal welds in the hull
The fore mast, with extra scratchbuilt details,
I also scratchbuilt a second radarmast,
a gideblock for the towcable on the stern
and a watercanon on the topdeck.
Finaly, paint. I used different primers for the hull (Vallejo) and the superstructure (Tamiya) for ease of the furter painting. This is temporary on hold until I get hold of a new bottle of Hull Red.
The first real collors are on the moddel, white with a drop of yellow ...
and Yellow with a drop of white, just to tone the collors down a bit
while I searched for Hull Red which is in the Vallejo Model collor range, I notised it's not in the Model Air range. There is Fire red and Anti Fouling Red, which is more of a faded red, no idea which one to choose.
Slowly adding color to the deckhouse. Funnel now painted as wel as the doors and some other details.
Hull also painted, although some overspray needs to be taken care of.
This is how far I have come

Hello Treehugger,
I bought them on the site of Naval Models itself, this set should still be available, although the stock is limited

Q: Is there not supposed to be railings on top at the back in photo 3? Just below the mast structure.

@ treehugger, yes indeed, it is one of the few pieces of PE that I still have to add
Guy, welkom, take a seat,

I've been working on the details to make it all look a bit more realistic, I hope to get busy with the airbrush very soon.

I had hoped to be in the painting phase by now, but no, still adding detail to it. I didn't have the time to do much, as other things kept getting in the way.

Album info
First time I post a work in progress album. This old kit from Heller gets an update with the photo-etsh set from Naval Models. This set contains the necessary railings and stairs together with some parts for the radar and antenna. I build the rest of the details from scratch. Construction began about two months ago, after assembling the basic elements (hull, deckhouse, chimney and masts) began detailing using photos of the original.
