Would a complete nose job do the trick?  

No.  

The build in roof which is actually on top of the canopy also is noticeably shaped different.. AFV is more like a TR-2

The old Cutting Edge set seems to fit quite easily with some adaptations.  

 

 

 

The vertical stabilizer is also taller on Testors and seems the better compared to pictures

Cut away some of the overly thick sides to help fit the CE pit.. which is smaller btw.  

Also the main wheel bay is replaced by Metallic Details.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Both wings are warped in multiple ways. Strangely enough this is symmetrical for left and right wing.  

Hinting..  

The kits intakes are way too thick and have shape issues. The Phase Hangar replacement looks nice, but doesn’t quite fit, nor the inside or outside..  

Slowly sanding the connection between fuselage and the intake into something that fits without gaps.

Tail needs to be 3mm taller. And the testors piece is too slim so doesn’t fit. And has a shape issue. So probably be better off reshaping the kit. A 

Metallic Details. Fit is not good.  

On the upper wing surface there is no piano wire connection along the flaps. Only on the lower surface. So I decided to remove these.

Right wing done 

Both done. And glued the ailerons and the early wing skids without lights, being a genuine Article. Now drying.  

The slipper pods. Not pointy enough and front part has a slightly larger diameter, well done AFV.. ? And appear to be a couple of mm short and I am wondering about the diameter as well..

The vertical tail needs to be a couple of mm higher.
