Arrows A8 BMW - GP San Marino 1985 - WIP
Long ago, I built this Arrows as soon as it was released in 1985. My first attemt failed and the kit was never finished. I simply bought another kit and built the model again.
This second attempt was better, and I finished the Arrows somewhere in the beginning of 1986. Only trouble was that I didn't use the correct color: I used some kind of sand instead of beige.
This has bothered me for almost 30 years. Now I decided to order a new set of decals, strip my first kit which I never threw away, and go for a third attempt.
Next we concentrate on the cockpit. I installed the gear lever and a small identification sticker.
The dashboard was detail painted.
The seat was painted and I installed PE seat belts.
The steering wheel was detail painted as well.
And this is how the cockpit looks with all the parts assembled.
Rear view from the cockpit.
And another one.
Next I dryfit the cockpit in the body. I over exposed the pictures to show the interior of the cockpit clearly.
Rear view.
And right hand side view.
Next I detail paint all the engine parts and I put them together.
Not a lot to see here, but that's allright since it will be almost completely hidden under the body.
And this is how the completed chassis looks like, just before final assembly of the body.
Rear view of the finished chassis.
Another shot from the completed chassis.
And then I fix the body in place. I also install some protective mesh at the left hand side (turbo intake).
Left hand side view from the model so far.
The Arrows model starts to look like a real F1...
This is the last picture of the model before final assembly.
I also ordered the correct 'Avorio Senegal Fiat 204' color and sprayed the body with it. The new set of decals was fixed as well. Now it looks like it should...
