Mirage 5BA - Heller
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/4/8/7/145487-12785-77-720.jpg)
Using some templates the panel lines were done.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/4/8/8/145488-12785-77-720.jpg)
The same for the rivets
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/4/8/9/145489-12785-11-720.jpg)
The vallejo wash is used here in order to show the lines I have just done.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/9/0/145490-12785-69-720.jpg)
Here after the wash is easy to see the lines and rivets.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/9/1/145491-12785-94-720.jpg)
To install the resin parts I had to erase the original wheel whells details.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/4/9/2/145492-12785-60-720.jpg)
I sarted using a X-acto blade
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/5/0/7/145507-12785-27-720.jpg)
And to find a better fit I used a flex pad.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/5/0/8/145508-12785-59-720.jpg)
Resin parts were glued using CA glue.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/5/0/9/145509-12785-37-720.jpg)
In order to close the wings I had to sand the delimited area in black.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/5/1/0/145510-12785-45-720.jpg)
Much better than the original parts I think.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/5/1/1/145511-12785-45-720.jpg)
Again I had to erase original details and sand a lot to have place to insert the resin parts.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/5/1/2/145512-12785-65-720.jpg)
Using a blade is faster.....
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/5/1/3/145513-12785-35-720.jpg)
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/5/1/4/145514-12785-52-720.jpg)
To have place to insert the resin I had again to remove some zones of the fuselage.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/5/1/5/145515-12785-17-720.jpg)
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/5/1/6/145516-12785-77-720.jpg)

![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/5/3/2/145532-12785-24-720.jpg)
This color os primer was used in order to have a light coat as a base before to paint the model. Also, that's the real color prime for some parts of the Dassault aircrafts.
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/5/3/3/145533-12785-70-720.jpg)
For exemple, to paint the white on the air intakes, a light base is better than a dark one.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/5/3/4/145534-12785-90-720.jpg)
Engraved panel lines were done after the primer coat.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/5/3/5/145535-12785-42-720.jpg)
The same for the rivets. Its easyer to see them on a primer coat than on the plastic without any coat.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/5/3/6/145536-12785-88-720.jpg)

![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/9/1/4/146914-12785-72-720.jpg)
Some pigments MUD were apllied in the cockpit.
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/9/1/5/146915-12785-50-720.jpg)
With these dark pigments you can have something adapted to the 72nd scale.
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/9/1/6/146916-12785-58-720.jpg)
Note that the initial effects with aluminium and white are now adapted to the scale.
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/9/1/7/146917-12785-76-720.jpg)
Some white color was applied.

![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/6/5/1/148651-12785-89-720.jpg)
Here they are applied.
![Album image #58 Album image #58](/albums/img/6/5/2/148652-12785-83-720.jpg)

![Album image #68 Album image #68](/albums/img/4/1/4/152414-12785-89-720.jpg)
Here the ModelWorld colors I will use.
![Album image #69 Album image #69](/albums/img/4/1/5/152415-12785-94-720.jpg)
First test, I think the color is too dark.
![Album image #70 Album image #70](/albums/img/4/1/6/152416-12785-77-720.jpg)
First color applied. Now I need to mask it and start to paint the llight green.

damn, this looks promising... very nice work on the detailling. From which company is the cockpit?

Hi guys thanks for your messages. The cockpit is from PAVLA. Be careful using this cockpit because you cannot find a good fit on the front wheel bay if you adjust correctly the cockpit side and vice-versa. That's the reason I have separeted the original part to find a good fit in both sides. Cheers, Pierre.

Very nice build, hard to believe the old Heller can look like that
I like the springs the most 🙂

Interesting project. Will follow!
BTW It would be cool if you add comments (for explanations of what and why you do) to the pics when you add those to the album.
E.g. I didn't get why you put Vallejo wash on the wing before painting. Is it just to test the wash itself? 🙂
And why did you paint it yellow? 🙂
Thanks,
Nik

Thanks for comments! Regarding missing project. I guess it is because kit is not assigned to the project. Please double check "Project inventory" and assign kit if it is not there

Thanks, but when I go to Albums, I can find the project and read this : This album is attached to project MIRAGE 5BA. But when I go to the project list it is not there. For the kit itself, if I do add to a project, the project Mirage 5BA is not on the list of existing projetcs.....

Pierre-Christian, It's already looking good 👍. As a side-note I can tell you and every-one else that some (many) of the Belgian Mirages were painted in the wrong order. Meaning that they firstly applied the darkest colors and then the lighters colors. When these planes started to have fainted paints, the lighter colors were showing the darker ones beneath them.

Album info
This is my first Mirage build. I will improve this old kit using some resin parts, PE parts and also home made parts. I will do a Belgian Mirage 5BA, before the adding of the ECM antennas, it means, wearing an old camo scheme with light grey on the undersurfaces.
