I acutally put mine on the workbench, Then decided to wait, as I wanted to add the targeting pod to update it, but I can't find one.

I am going to be building this one out of the box for a local Hobby shop. I have seen all the BarracudaCast items, I am going to build my own parts because I've got 12 of them in my stash. I don't see the reasoning in buying 12 sets of detail parts when i know i can make one set myself, and cast them, and get much more satisfaction out of my build. It is the pleasurable for me to build than just assembling a kit. The HK Models B-17 Build is for a Friend.
Cheers All

I just dryfitted the 1:72 kit for the fun of it, already a beast in that smaller scale. I'll definitely watch this. 🙂

Built this as a kid when it came out in the early 80's. Took a while to save up for it too. It was just too massive to brush paint like I did back then with my kits. So I made the white prototype version using a spray can. It looked quite impressive hanging from the ceiling dwarving even a 1/32 Tomcat. Good luck with the build. From what I remember is that I had trouble with the glue drying up before I could attach the parts because of their size. And it had some issues with seams. They didn't have Tamiya green back then. Have fun with the build!

You better have a big brush or a rattle can the Augie,if you will never go to the paint blower. LOL. Anyway join in the fun.LOL. This monster is Gunship grey right, please to me yes, as I have invested in copious amounts of it, and white.

I got my cockpit started today,I did not realize how big the thing is. Do you believe it has 228 pieces?

I just ordered one 🙂 55 euro. 35 years ago it was the equivalent of around 30 euro. Now all I have to do is move house to a place I have room to build it.

@Jan: I can take it off your hands for €30,- so you can save money because you wont have to move, how's that for a plan? 😄

Nah, I think I'll pass. I've already got a spot in mind to put it when its done. It's going to the office I'll be moving to in a few months. Kind of fitting for a military aviation authority don't you think?

Looking good so far, I am making slow progress on mine, Trying to finish my 1/32 Tornado and work on the bone at the same time. The Tornado is finished, except for final weathering, finally.

Just got notified that Barracuda studios shipped out all of my goodies today, so it is time to go to work in earnest.

Started my cockpit today, and applied lots of putty to the insides of the intake trunks, sanding those is going to be fun.

Your doing a great job on this huge bird, and I see that the seams and panel lines are no longer an issue. Well done. 🙂 👍

Looking really sweet, you're making me feel like digging mine back out. If you remember you inspired me to start mine, but I ended up packing her away. Anyway I now have the "Symphony of Destruction" decals by Caracal Models and a whole new diorama idea for her (and she'll be displayed in an in-flight position where she belongs). I'm hoping to start work on her again in about 6 months time.🙂

That would be the second time 🙂 Finished mine a few months ago. But kept it stock. No fancy flaps or resin parts.

Well you can get from Barracuda their Exhaust Nozzle set, either early or late set. Plus they do the Air Intake set, as well as an Exterior Upgrade set. I have the the Late Exhaust Nozzles set that doesn't have the turkey feathers on them and also the Exterior Upgrade set. They do the wheels as well but I can't remember if I got those or not.

Do you prefer the 'turkey feather' type cans or just the plain 'scissor' type. ?. They both look good, but I would imagine fiddley to do if moulded but as individual parts. :-/
I have seen online the resin bits and they look well detailed, and being 1/48, it's going to look spectacular. haha. 🙂 Bring it on. 👍
