you really cant see, but there a lot of mold seam lines on the body. Took several days to get them all worked out
primed w/light red guide coat. let that dry for a few days
Color is way off, and too much reflection, but there's the light green
masked and ready for the dark green. The color from my room lighting sucks for picture taking!
None of the pics i took got the color right, but this one looked the best. I need to wait till an afternoon when the sun is coming in my window and try again. It really does look good though.
The "Liquid Silver" trim
These last 2 i took over by the window trying to get some sunlight on it, but this time of year I don't get direct sun in my window...
....but it did improve the color for the camera, it looks pretty close
Well, about 1:30 in the afternoon I do get a bit of sun in my window....
...so i took these in direct sunlight...
...color looks pretty close.
not gonna get much better than that i think
Hmmm... should I put on the "stock" wheels & tires, or go for some modern upgrades???
the stock axles are much thicker than average kit axles, so I'll have to make the stock ones mount to the back of the new ones
mount them up im my dermel tool, They just slide on an 1/8 drill bit
the stock front
sand it off flat with a hard 400 stick, then paint then flat black
put a bit of wash on for detail.... I'll also have to shorten the axles 1/8" on both ends or the wheels don't fit between the fenders
My little Kodak doesn't take the greatest pictures...
...but these aren't too bad..
It looks sooo much better in person
I'm very happy with how it turned out...
She's Beautiful!!
A couple more w/mirrors & antenna
....
...and of course one of her in the shop next to the 55, which I also had.
Robert W Martel Hi Spanjaard,
Well, I wish it was a model in the true sense and not a promo. But it will just have to do. I have not seen a "kit" of this car, although I'm pretty sure they made them back in the days. ?? If I can put on a good paint job, the chrome on the bumpers is like new, it should look good.
I do remember it was a sweet car when I had it nearly 50 years ago (1968)!
Spanjaard green is not my favourite colour, but this car looks really good, very nice paint job

Robert W Martel Thanks Spanjaard,
Come to think of it I always hated green on a car !! But mine was green so.....
It turned out really nice if I do say so myself! I Love It!. If I can paint them that good each time I'd be very happy. I'm just tickled pink!

So...I decided to go with Dark/Light Green 2-Tone. I'll use the same Pearl Green I used on the 54 Chevy for the dark, bottom & rear. Took the Pearl White I used for the 54 top and added about 10 drops of Createx Pearl Green just to give it a green tint.
I like the light green, I think it looks good so far. The fun part will be masking off for the trim after the dark green. Not true colors for sure.....but... as long as it comes out nice it'll look great!

Honestly, I can't remember the exact way it was painted, single color or 2 tone. I remember it was Green, not a Dark Green. I just can't remember, that was nearly 50 years ago!!!
According to the color charts I'm looking at for 56 it would have been 1 of 4 Greens, and none of them were in combination w/White.
Hialeah Green, Glendale Green, Tarragon Green, & Kerry Green were the 4 greens used. They would have been 2 toned with black, grey or another green, no white.
??? I'm not sure, I just remember green. It could have been 2 tone gre
