I have this one in my stash, thanks for showing yours. Looks very nice (what's up with the canopy tho'? forget to paint the frame?) 🙂

Thanks guys,
I like this plane too. Well, I like anything WWII !!! And the old AMT kit isn't so bad.
The frames??? Well, I wrongly added the Montex G masks to the inventory. I had forgotten. At the time I couldn't find masks for the J, and at that point I didn't even want to try doing them w/masking tape.
I remember as a kid I tried masking and it was always a disaster, so I just left it unpainted. Since then I have done a few by hand and had decent results. They say foil works best, I've tried it but have a heck of a time getting off the unwanted parts, it's so darn thin. I've had decent results using the 2mm vinyl tape w/6mm Tamiya masking tape, it's just a tedious process !!
I always buy the masking sets when I can find them, and I prefer the vinyl ones (Montex). I really like the Maxi Masks as they come w/stencils for the roundels and such. I've used Eduards a few times too, but they seem less foregiving to me, they don't stretch and they tear easily. Us Old guys have more trouble with that kind of stuff !!
Maybe one day I'll pull it down and try doing the glass, HA !! not likely.
I would like to build another one, the Boston or the P-70
I hope someday somebody makes a New Tool 1/32 scale of this plane, that would be super.!! It is a cool plane.

Robert, I struggle with those canopies too. I've used sets from EZ Mask several times with good results. They are vinyl and do stretch. Although they have adhesive backing, it's wise to dip each piece into a bowl of soapy water before applying it. It can then be positioned and placed exactly a lot easier. Sometimes, when there are no other options, I just have to "bite the bullet" and get out the Tamiya tape. 🙂
Man, those greenhouse canopies (ala SBD) are just a headache no matter what one does and I always dread that part of the build. Heh, heh, that's another reason tanks seem easier to build in my opinion.
Yes, the A-20 was very cool. I want to someday build mine along with my 1/48 B-26 Marauder and B-25 Mitchell. Now, where I'd find room to display them is another question. Real nice model you have there Robert! 👍

Thanks Gary,
And that's a good tip, I'll try to remember that next time I use the vinyl masks. I haven't picked the next aircraft "victim" yet, but it will be very soon.
I don't have much shelf space. I'm doing all my modeling/displaying in my bedroom. All the planes I build are hanging from the ceiling. it will be completely covered and at different altitudes if I ever build them all !! LOL
The A-26 is another that needs a re-tool, the old ESCI wasn't bad though. I've done the old tool Revell 1/48th B-25 and it's pretty good, but also have the AM B-25C/D w/engraved lines, should be a nice one.
Regards

Album info
I built this one w/British markings. Pretty decent for an old kit.
