I had to move some of the PE parts to fit the canopy, hence the brass showing through. Have to go over it with a brush and some paint 😉.

I used patafix to mask the engine in the cowl.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/5/5/8/453558-34174-37-720.jpg)
Also the wheel bays were masked with patafix.

I need to assemble 30 of these little levers... Tedious work, but I think it will be worth it 🙂.

Nice PE detail for the rear gunner from Eduard.
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/9/1/7/455917-34174-20-720.jpg)
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/9/1/8/455918-34174-53-720.jpg)
The PE flaps/dive breaks from Eduard were really nice.
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/9/1/9/455919-34174-22-720.jpg)
The kit engine was really detailed. And if I could redo something it would be to open the vents of the engine cowl to show some of that detail.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/9/2/0/455920-34174-90-720.jpg)
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/9/2/1/455921-34174-79-720.jpg)
The riveting is still visible after painting 🙂
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/9/2/2/455922-34174-94-720.jpg)
Alot of the detail for the cockpit cannot be seen in the finished model.

![Album image #54 Album image #54](/albums/img/9/2/6/455926-34174-48-720.jpg)
The kit didn't have the small bombs, so I took two from the Eduard Hellcat-kit that I will build without bombs.
![Album image #55 Album image #55](/albums/img/9/2/7/455927-34174-20-720.jpg)

![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/9/2/9/455929-34174-90-720.jpg)
The eduard detail on the flaps and the lever system is really intricate.

There is alot of PE in this BigEd kit for the Dauntless. Flaps and dive breaks and almost the whole cockpit is replaced in the kit. I'm only half way through the PE as of yet. 🙂

Thanks Stephan! 🙂
Did a little more PE bending. Now all the major parts are done. Next step is to paint the cockpit.

So I did some more work on the Dauntless this weekend. Cockpit is painted and assembled and also the flaps and dive breaks. Next is assembling the fuselage and seal the cockpit so I can start painting.

Thank you Stephan! 🙂
Riveting done, and canopy masked. Only a bit of cleanup left before first layer of paint.

I've been busy 🙂. Finished basic paint and assembled and painted most of the small parts.
Next will be a clear coat, before decals.

Still not there yet... Decaling and most of the weathering is done, but still alot of work left with the small parts and the flaps/dive breaks. I have to assemble all the little levers for them first.

Final stretch! I've started assembling the flaps/dive breaks. Only some light weathering left after I've finished this. 🙂

Like it a lot Björn! Especially your effort about the Flaps and Airbrakes looks amazing so far 👍

Thank you Daniel! 🙂
I'm taking my time with it. The Flaps/Dive breaks are really worth the extra money/time spent on this kit.

Thank you Spanjaard! 🙂
I'm surprised I haven't dropped any of the small parts on the floor yet. I guess I will have to say a prayer to the PE gods when this is over😉.

good job on that too! keeping the carpet monster at bay is also a very hard job and shows care and dedication and a certain dosage of luck too😉

![](/profiles/img/34174-191-s.jpg)
Yes you are right! And I don't even have a carpet. The monster must be a shape shifter😉
20 March 2018, 09:46
![](/profiles/img/21096-573-s.jpg)
oh yes, the cousins of the carpet monster... less ferocious maybe, but still lurking around... the parquet monster, the tile monster..... still to be reckon with 😄

So the Dauntless is finished. 🙂
I really liked building this kit from Hasegawa. No real problems at all. The Eduard BigEd kit did its job for the detailing as usual, although, the cockpit detail in the kit was nice as it was, but the flaps/dive breaks added alot to the finished build in my opinion.
Time to start another one...😉

That is just fantastic! This makes me want to build one too, and I am a jet guy!

Thank you Mike! 🙂
I'm also kind of a jet guy after growing up in Linköping and watching all of the SAAB planes (Tunnan/Lansen/Draken/Viggen/Gripen) at air shows several times. They are all on my list for future builds.

I looked at more of your pictures … stunning cockpit. I assumed it was 1/32 scale. Then I saw it was 1/48. Amazing. Congratulations.

Björn, fantastic job of a nice plane. It looks really like a real Dauntless which was in service for some time.
