MS-1 WIP

Album image #1
This is a very easy to assemble kit. Only one PE part, parts go together very well, not much sanding to do. The small wheels are a bit of a paint though.

Album image #2
Base coat in Tamiya Olive Green for a slightly darker pre-WWII colour.

Album image #3
Modulation with Olive Drab and then Parched Grass. Turned out a little lighter than I anticipated, but it's an ahistorical piece anyway.

Album image #4
Washes and shovel. I'm trying to be minimalist on the weathering for this one, but it turned out a little heavy in some places.

Album image #5
Suspension is on, the little guy is ready for tracks.

Album image #6
Putting on the shoes. Unlike the previous few models I built, the running gear and tracks came together flawlessly. I would suggest that you don't glue on the idlers for some last minute adjustments.

Album image #7
And a little bit of weathering for the tracks to finish it off. Full photos tomorrow!

Oh man, Eastern Express is an experience. I saw a thread on Karopka where a guy was putting it together, basically you have to re-rivet the whole turret... karopka.ru/forum/forum188/topic5910/

Re-rivet the whole turret??? It doesn't have rivets? or are they in the wrong place?
Hehehe no way. I don't think I'm that good with rivets. 🤔
But thanks for the heads up. 👍

It does, but a common problem with older kits is massive gaps between panels. With welded armour it's not an issue to fill and sand, but with riveted armour the sanding process will destroy the rivet details.

So, if I understand correctly, the problem is the massive gaps between panels? 🙁

Yes, judging from the photos.

Someone said the same about the hood/bonnet in the
scalemates.com/kits/941755-esci-5018-sd-kfz-10-4
But I didn't find it so bad when I did the model. As I recall, I found that the real problem was a downwards bent forward part of the chassis. Correcting that was easy.
So I will keep my fingers crossed.
