Republic P-47D-30 Thunderbolt; 1/72
Hopefully this will be the final result 🙂
but before the start - testing new rivetting tool
comparison before (right) and after (left)
cockpit - no additional PE upgrades - just OOB
instrument panel looks really nice after painting and detailing
wing parts after base coat (just to see if the rivets will still be there)
almost ready for primer coat
engine painted with GSI Buffable colors
first round of black gloss base coat
there may be needed the second coat to get better result. We will see.
AK Extreme metals - Polished Aluminium - it looks slightly grainy but in reality it's very nice and smooth (see next picture)
very nice finish
front engine cover - really happy with the result
nice and shiny
main body also exactly as I wanted it to be in the end.
I love it!
my preciousssss... 😄
AK Extreme metals are definetely my favorite metal paint after this model. Highly recommended!
red surfaces all in place
Olive drab top antiglare surfaces in place
and after a nice gloss coat of Future - still looking nice and shiny
Ready for decals!
Decals in place
lots and lots and lots of mostly small decals
and a few bigger 🙂
Flory Dark dirth wash
and after cleaning
All bits and bobs in place, canopy unmasked - Model is finished 🙂

Looks really good! 👍 The Revell kit is this diamond in the rough and you are surely cutting and polishing that into something brilliant. 🙂

Thank you all for the kind words. Patrick, it's Tamiya X-1 gloss black thinned 50/50 with leveling thinner

Hans, I was worried in the beginning start and during the testing because I was not getting the finish I was after, but after this paint job it looks like I finally figured them out and I literally fell in love with them.

Very nice finish. I'm also building same kit and would like to know what gloss black did you use. Thanks

Thank you everybody.
First - nice and clean surface without scratches (obviously 🙂 ), I have put base coat of MRP surface primer (not necessary), then first coat of Tamiya X-1 Black gloss (50/50) which was too thick so the second coat of tamiya black gloss was with more thinner (30/60 - paint/thinner). Next time I will go right away with the 30/60 mix. And then final two - three coats of thin layer of Polished aluminum (first coat was just dusting , second slightly heavier and the last was quite heavy but not too much heavy). I have not let the metal color dry between the coats - when the last surface of the model was painted, the first was already dry. but if you let it dry for 4 - 5 min - it will be sufficient.
and the important thing while airbrushing - low pressure (did not pay attention to PSI) just enough for the paint to spray without splattering and nice and close spraying.
Hope this will help.
Thank you everybody.
