Just started this „Hog"
From the first look there will be some small fit issues
I put a „Hog driver" into place without a major problem - a very spacy cockpit
Let's see how things progress 🙂

Hehe Konrad your faster than I can upload some content😉
The „Hog" is a slow plane but it will turn very fast, so it's good to fasten the seatbelt😉

Thank you James and Donald 🙂 your always welcome
@ James it will be in European colour 3 tone Aircraft number 80-0163 from England Air Base
@ Donald - the parts in the kit are bad - so I decided to go for that great aftermarket stuff

Nice! You'll love the Master GAU-8 muzzle, it looks great when completed.

@ Donald - me too not on the Trumpeter or on the Revell kit

Here is an update about the work of the last week
There were 17 variants 🤔 of the basic ALQ-119 system. Most of the changes were in the packaging and mounting of equipment to improve reliability, maintainability, and operational capability.
I finally found the right Pod in my stash 🙂 the pod provided by the kit did not convince me
I spent most of the last week assembling the wings and flaps - the fit was not good
I also assembled the gun muzzle -
this consists of eleven parts 😄

Just a short update on this build
The main airframe of this kit is a post LASTE update frame 🤔
That update was mostly done after the first Gulf War
Cause I want to build a pre LASTE Hog from the gulf war I have to modify the tailfins and some parts of the airframe 😄

Dry fit of the „Hog drivers office"
Fit with the Eduard parts is very good 🙂
Small Pe parts, ejection seat with the „Hog driver" will be added later

Thank you Daniel 🙂 To be honest
It seems to be a late A frame also including some night flyight formation lights
LASTE
the Low-Altitude Safety and Targeting Enhancement (LASTE) upgrade provided computerized weapon-aiming equipment, an autopilot, and a ground-collision warning system
Contains more antennas 🤔

Just a little update
Glued the main fuselage - you have to options good fit on the nose and top and no fit on the bottom 🤔 or
good fit on the bottom and no fit at nose and top 😄
I took the first option😉 but had to remove all pins to make it work

Got a crack in the windscreen which I can't fix 🤔 I think I will replace it - I got an old A-10 kit from Revell - If it fits I will take it

Even the rest of the cracked windscreen does not seem to be what one could call mint condition - hope the replacement does better, would be a pity to look at all that eye-candy in the cockpit through something like this... Keep up the good work, we need more good looking A-10's😉

It seems to be a common question how to handle clear part issues 🤔
I found quite some useful stuff on youtube🙂

Jumping in a littel late tot the party none the less. Looking on from the top of the bleachers. LOL The canopy is always the one piece I handle with so much care. It happens and trust me we have all done it. Hope the revell one fits well enough.

Thank you Bryn and Holger for your kind comments 🙂
I started to use Bernhards „Kitchen-Setup" and the first results are better as expected 🙂
In between I tested the fit of the Revell windscreen, and the fit is better as the original one 😄
So there's no need for more „first aid" at the moment
Thank you all by helping me on that issue 🙂

Here a little update about the progress of this build 🙂
Cockpit - ready - Seat - HUD and some small parts will be added later
Engine cowlings - a lot of putty and sanding is needed here 🤔 - but I'm halfway through
hope to get the rest on the cowlings done tomorrow 🙂
main hull is closed - all gaps are filled with putty and all C-Upgrade antennas are removed - so its now looking more like an A Version from 1991

And just for the record. These hogs just never carried all the bombs they say they carried, but close to it. Their mainstay was the 'hellfire', not iron bombs. 😉

Thank you Slavo, Donald , Jos and Dominik your comments are much appreciated🙂
About adding the big module later was the outcome of the planning how to get it done the easiest way 🤔
1. I can add more weight to the mainframe to avoid a tailsitter 😄 25g are far to less
2 masking this area with the module makes it very complicated to paint those areas
3 the seams are very small and can be painted easilly from the top
But that was only my approach to get it done 🙂

And an aircraft that is about to celebrate almost 40 years in service never seems to get old is an awsome achievement. !

Thank you Martin, glad that you like the camo 🙂
We had those birds on our base - but then they were withdrawn - bings a lot of memories back
I'm also waiting for some parts - general holiday time everywhere🤔

I just ordered a bunch of wheels from Royale Resin, did not realize they did so many aircraft, I found their web site because of you Stephan. Thanks. The Royale Resin wheels I had used in the past I bought off of E-Bay.

It's very probable with both in use I think. I've read somewhere that the green ones is of a newer version than the white ones and that the green ones always mounts one by one on the stations instead of up to three per station that was common with the earlier version. I'll go with white on my build later on as I plan to mount two + two on LAU-88's under the wings on my Hog.

I remember that they started with the white ones but then they found out that the white ones are not suitable for the European camo 😄 white spot on a dark background = not good for hiding😉
Still waiting for the replacements from Eduard 🤔 hope to get them soon

Our base was one of four „FOL's" forward operation locations in Germany
So something like that was often practiced

Cool project and a very nice and convincing result so far.
Your build „forced" me to add this kit to my stash too. Maybe this can solve my A-10 trauma which is caused in a terrible tailsitter build, 20 years ago.
Looking forward to your finished warthog 👍

Thank you Moritz for your kind words 🙂
Your trauma will be overcome by a weight of 75 gramm to the nose and forgetting about the internal gun details😉 if you're going for the Hobby Boss kit

Very Cool build. Question, your Pilot figure, did you cast a copy or is it an Aftermarket item. It looks very good.
Thanks for sharing this.
