This 1:144 kit had instructions from the 1:72 boxing. I guess their copy machine died.

I used a Dremel to grind out the insides of the nacelles. Now the engine fan fits and the nacelles can be closed up.

The bottom part of the fuselage is a separate part. It needs a bit of filler, but ends up looking good.

Major components complete & dry fitted ONE more time.

Comparison of the kit supplied rocket pod with the replacement.

The completed engine pods. These required much sanding both inside and out. Because of this, rescribing of the exterior was needed as well. The camouflage to be applied should hide my rescribing well.

The wing has been attached and everything primed. Trying to decide if the engines should be attached before painting or painted separately.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/0/8/9/1010089-23842-76-720.jpg)
Painted on all the Aluminum to the leading edges.

Underside color applied.

The upper camo scheme begins!

Each color laid down required a coat of Pledge Clear Acrylic afterwards. This keeps the Mr. Masking Sol Neo from eating into the layers.

Updating some of my previous ghost builds. This one is just about ready for primer now. The kit is quite nicely engraved, however the fit is VERY challenging.

Łukasz, I hope your 1:72 kit is the Eastern Express one. I built the Toko one years ago and it would have been easier to just sand the shape of the An-72 from a solid block of plastic. 😄

Doh! It wasn't really THAT bad. It did require some putty and sandpaper though. 😄

Added a shot for the replacement of the wing mounted rocket pods. The kit one is just a basic shape. Instead of spending hours with a micro drill I just replaced the pods with a pair off my Academy Su-25 kit.

Welcome Dutch & Robert! I'm hoping to get back to this one soon. I do need to make more time for my 1:144 builds...

Hey Dutch, they are using these as border patrol. I guess they mean business! ?
Today I applied light blue to the underside.

Today I had time to paint the light tan, apply the masking & paint the orange-brown. I only remembered to take a pic at the end ?.

Nathan, Coming along nicely! I haven't used my airbrush in years. I really need to dig it out and inspect it first. No telling what condition it is in and the compressor, for that matter! But I suere like to wtch you work! Keep it up, brother! K/r, Dutch

Thank you very much Jorge & Dutch!
I have now applied the green and there's only one more color to go. It's looking a bit crude right now, but let's see if I can pull a rabbit out of my hat.

The final color has been applied and I have removed almost all of the mask. There's still a little clean up, and a couple of areas that will need touch up. After that I'll add another clear coat and appply the decals.

Nathan, That is one cool camouflage scheme! Kind of like our Asia Minor scheme, but with brighter colors! K/r, Dutch

Dutch, on the other hand it reminds me of the early Lakotas 🙂

Although there are a couple of extremely tiny photo-etch antennas to attach, I'm calling this one complete. A challenging but fun little kit.
