Hello Rui, Clifford, Patrick & Murad. Welcome to this build log. I have been busy on the computer a lot for the Dora, but this part will be unfolded later. For the good old modeling, I got my pawns on the beautiful Eagle parts cockpit. It will mostly be kept for a later build as the installation requires heavy mod on stock parts to get fitted. However it serves as an inspiration for recreating the most visible parts that needs enhancements: the back of the seat, map holder and so on. The ip is the magnificent yahu. Hardest thing now is to get the right rlm66 mix to blend the ip in. Cheers

Hi Felix, Welcome along.
I found some spare time to crack open the magnificent Airscale Placards and Instruments. I think it does really bring life to any cockpit.
RLM66 is such a pain to photograph, it was impossible to get a decent pic with the phone.

Hi Clifford, thank you for your encouragements!
Last pics before the fuselage closing. The removable motor pod contains one mini dc motor and the cr123 holder. It does connect to the switch wich is hidden under the hole on the upper cowling, I guess it's the crank starter hole on the real thing. The upper seatbelts aren't worked out yet as I intend to put them lying on the fuselage sides. Next big chapter is onto the wheel wells. Cheers

Kind of an experimentation on how to represent the flush rivets on this bird. I tryed the HGW stuff, but was more of a big head rivet to my taste (wich is fine for birds featuring them). I then draw a lot of circles on my favorite software. and after some hours of puncturing oramask. i came out with panels to apply on a clean NMF skin. I shot some more alu paint over the mask, and let dry for days.
Then came the moment of truth with some very fine layers of rlm82/83. Followed by a gentle sponge sanding of the fresh paint, then came the wash and scratches.
Now I just have to cover the entire bird with the whole thing.

Mathieu, did I get this correct in that you drafted up the individual skin panels, applied them, painted them NMF and later in camouflage colors? Maybe I'm seeing this wrong as I cannot entirely follow your method here. It does look very detailed however. 😉

Hi Patrick. Yeps that's indeed the process. Once the masks are applied, the last nmf coat just falls into the mask holes and draw the rivet lines with just enough thickness to replicate flush head rivets. Then you apply the camouflage color in a normal way. Even without any sanding the rivets are already appearing underneath.
The last pic is after some beating of the paint.

The process is similar as the hgw rivets application. But the heads are not as thick.
And it's homemade, so more fun!

Thank you Clifford. Been able to start the fuselage. Right side was a total mess so I have to do it again. Left side makes me happier. First mottling job in my modeling life... needless to say I was anxious to get to this point

The mottling looks great! Cool to see the difference between the heavier dots and the faint squiggles. A lot of trigger control here. 👍
