My first ever aircraft lobotomy. The glue I originally used to put this together was some kind of testors glue. It still stinks like it did 10 years ago, and I was able to very easily pull off the engines, landing gear, cockpit, nose cone, and pretty much anything else glued onto the main body

I wasn't happy with the scale of the main displays compared to everything else, so I made them slightly larger

using styrene sheet, I cut out some shapes resembling what the modern b-1 cockpit should look like.

All that's left before painting the cockpit is the back wall and some of the seat details. It's surprisingly hard to find reference material of the back of the cockpit

Big amout of work ahead... Good luck! I'm also waiting for the Modelcollect kit, like for the MT-LB and the new MAN A1 stuff that was anounced already a year ago.

Thank you, this is actually my first time doing this kind of "scratch building"

Album info
I built this model probably close to a decade ago, before I started painting anything I built. Since there aren't currently any new b-1 kits available in 1:72, I'm going to try to re-paint this one to make it a bit more appealing. Originally this was just going to be a test piece for acrylic paints, but then an interesting idea popped into my head: we're going to do a splinter camo on this guy. Since the splinter camo will require a decent amount of effort, I may as well make the whole thing a bit more presentable than originally planned.
