Yawata Maru to Un'yō Conversion Build
before I knew it I'd decided to do a pretty much full build before painting
Yawata Maru (八幡丸), one of three Nitta Maru-class cargo liners built in Japan during the late 1930s
still got some tidying up to do - windows, weathering, rigging
starting the Unyo..
so.. the thing about building carriers
pile-up on the flight deck
Finished the main build of the Aoshima 1:700 kits (rigging and weathering to come), but first I'm keen to test an idea for displaying these that may or may not work. We'll see!
finishing details for the Unyo - a little rigging, rust effects and modulation
the Yawata Maru gets some rigging
Internal layout showing the one-way mirror on 45˚ angle in front of the Yawata Maru (acrylic sheet with silver insulation window film)
The finished box
Power jack and switch on the rear..
looking through the window when the Yawata Maru is illuminated

thanks Justin. interested to see what you think of the final display (secret work in progress). TBH my builds were a bit slap-dash, but they're coming up not too bad. I am starting to notice how the masts are very over-scale though!
