![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/9/0/4/1373904-15588-86-720.jpg)
Box contents ,,, at least with this one I got the stand ,,,,,
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/9/0/5/1373905-15588-49-720.jpg)
Colourful sprues
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/9/0/3/1373903-15588-23-720.jpg)
Mould says 1976 ,,,,, pure nostalgia of those days whe we just built and painted it whatever decoration we lliked.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/5/0/2/1376502-15588-79-720.jpg)
Main fuselage parts glued together, This time I'm taking a more secure way with the nose ballast ,,,, just PVA glue, and some white metal (of course) that came from an old radial engine ... In the end I opted for an in-flight pose ... so I could have avoided that.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/3/9/2/1411392-15588-83-720.jpg)
First coat of FS24079 green Gunze H 309.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/3/9/1/1411391-15588-15-720.jpg)
Meanwhile I searched for vintage Sidewinders in the spare-box ... and I also found two spare tanks from an ESCI F-104 Red Idian. The fit is perfect to the Matchbox kit wing tips. Also found the sledge pylon suport for the sidewinders.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/3/9/3/1411393-15588-94-720.jpg)
This is how it lloks after three coats of H 309 green. Nose has been painted FS24087 Gunze H 304. All brush painted. Also ventral fin , intakes and tail plane have been glued in place.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/4/0/1425440-15588-98-720.jpg)
Missiles rack in place.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/3/9/1425439-15588-42-720.jpg)
Also wing-tip tanks in place.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/4/1/1425441-15588-61-720.jpg)
I've got the feeling that the stand provided in the box is too small for this model ...
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/6/9/9/1448699-15588-61-720.jpg)
Kit decals were useless .... Protection paper had stuck to the decals. No way to use them. So I had to search in my spare decals box and I found decals from a Revell and a Heller Draken, which will we the donnors for the insignias, and tail badge and flags. Unfortunately I've got no decals for the yellow stencils .....
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/7/0/0/1448700-15588-75-720.jpg)
First phase for decalling completed. Now I'm searching for some suitable decals that could be used as yellow stencils. More anon.

Second phase
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/0/7/4/1463074-15588-12-720.jpg)
I did decalling in 3 phases because I had to put decal over decal in several places.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/0/7/7/1463077-15588-59-720.jpg)
Danish flag didn't stick very well so I had to cover the decal with PVA glue.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/0/7/8/1463078-15588-16-720.jpg)
I know the decoration is not 100x100 true but this is the best I could get. Also , as this is a retro-project ... you know , at that time I didn't care so much about fidelity.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/0/7/9/1463079-15588-74-720.jpg)
After a coat of Vallejo semi-gloss rattle can .... when set aside for drying ,,, the model fell from the support and one wing and the nose probe went away. No difficult to repair any way.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/0/8/1/1463081-15588-29-720.jpg)
Calling it done
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/0/8/0/1463080-15588-71-720.jpg)
Sidewinders came from the spare parts box ... but I'm sure are from Matchbox.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/0/8/3/1463083-15588-54-720.jpg)
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/0/8/6/1463086-15588-52-720.jpg)
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/0/8/2/1463082-15588-34-720.jpg)
The stand from the kit is much to small for that model. I grabbed a pretty one from a 1/100 Tamiya Draken.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/0/8/4/1463084-15588-57-720.jpg)
Which is quite nice and elegant.

I built it long long time ago , probably in the late 70s .... pure nostalgia ...... let's see how it turns out ,,,
Thanks mates !
At that time the model was painted in the splinter German camo ,,,, I'll have to made my mind up for this one ,,,,, Greek , Danish, Belgian, Norwegian ..... depending on the decals I've got in my stash .....

Album info
Another retro-modelling for the Matchbox group build .... Love those old kits with all those fancy colours. As usual with my retro-modelling projects no putty and no airbrush will be used. Also I usually take the "retro-information" I still have from that time .... But in this case ... as this is not one of my favourite subjects I don't have old books referring to the Starfighter ,,, So I'll take the information from the internet or more modern books. This will be a little license that I'll take
😉
