I saw one where someone painted the parts but left them on the sprues, and then framed the sprues. That was cool too.
Ludvík KružíkBen, you're absolutely right. Building this model was a release for me and I had a lot of fun with it. And I also found a use for an old kit that would otherwise have sat in my stash with no further use.

I still have a few old models and a few friends who are related to aviation. I thought it might make a nice gift for them. So it is very likely that I will make some more "pictures".

Did you use a foil for the mirror? I think with a real mirror the reflection might be even better

I borrowed that idea too, saw it here on the forum. I used mirror film. The mirror has a better image, but because of the glass that is in front of the mirror surface, it makes a visible gap between the model and its image in the mirror.

As I wrote a bit above, the idea is not mine, but I liked it, so I tried it. My idea was to use a Starfighter model for this build, as it has a small wingspan. But I'm glad you like the Starfighter.

I admit at the outset that this idea is not from my head. I discovered this idea on this site and liked it so much that I couldn't resist and had to try it out.
I used an old Starfigter kit from Academy to build it. Since it is more of a decoration than a model in the true sense of the word and due to the age of the kit and its imperfections I did not regret using it for this experiment. I conceived the whole thing as a weekend quick build from the box, without investigating the fit of the model to the kit. The only modifications I made were to take apart some parts of the kit that were in one piece and could not be used as they were (cockpit tub, instrument panel, cockpit overlay, pilot, horizontal tail surfaces, engine nozzle...). I found the paintwork on the net, the decals are just domo. The only change from the kit is the use of an additional tank at the end of the wing. I like the Starfighter better with the tanks.
Describing the construction is unnecessary, the attached photos will tell you more.
