I like the way you masked off the engine cowling, I "came up" with the same idea to tape it from the inside on a recent build so that inner lip would get sprayed. Awesome build!

Thanks a lot, gents, for your kind words!
Alec, i'm really glad, you like the chipping. This is my first attempt to chip multiply layers of different colors. I was in suspense how it will look like. Fortunately it seems to me that it's OK 🙂

I think you succeeded magnificently. And on first attempt?! Looks really great, especially coupled with the shading. I think these pacific birds are a great canvas for such methods. Again, great work 👍

Well, I'll save the hat tip for when the model's ready. But the work in progress is also worthy of high praise. 👍

Been busy with work over the past few weeks. haven't had much time to look at this site until today. just spent the past hour going through your photo's of this build, going WOW. i love details that have added to this kit, and totally blown away by the paint work.

This is just magnificent. One of my favourite things about coming back to this hobby after decades away is being able to see people doing work like this. Amazing stuff.

What the hell?!
That´s so awesome!!
Even if it's not finished yet, but it already looks overwhelming.

All the work you put into the many steps of the paint job is paying off big time!

When I see the skills you have and the skills bughunter has, I think I would need the skill you two have. 😄

The surface of the Corsair looks very convincing. I like it very much. 👍
Thank you for the compliment about my skills. 🙂 However, I think I still have a lot to learn, especially in the area of painting.

Dík, Jaryno!
Thank you, Rui and Jennifer!
Actually the work on the model is done, but I´m not satisfied with the fit of the open canopy. When i will get the new vacuformed one, i will make final pictures...

Perfection - the faded coloring, the weathering, the chipping - you did this kit justice. Tamiya should pay you to build their kits for display.

Fantastic birdcage and the look I am striving for in my F4U.
Question: you used a red anticorrosive paint at the wheel wells and the interior of the fuselage. Do you know by chance how this color is called and whether it was used at later versions of the Corsair too? I only knew of the zinc chromate yellow as anticorrosive and its mixture with black as interior green. I would appreciate if you could share your knowledge.

Thanks a lot Jakub. That sounds like I can stick with zinc chromate yellow for my 1D.
