The Trumpeter T-80UM1 model is a compilation of three other Trumpeter T-80B/BV, UD and U models. This approach has caused the model to have many errors in relation to the original. That is why I decided to make the model fully compatible with the available photographic documentation.
Errors that I found in the Trumpeter model:
- old type APU
- Engine Air Filter, no EAF lifting mechanism, greatly simplified
- lack of wireing,
- no screws / welds
- incorrect mapping of towing rope holders
- no Arena cable shields
- front rubber fenders too short
- in addition, the tower geometry is incorrect in my opinion, it looks like it was "swollen" 🙂.
- Incorrect contact-5 geometry on the body requires a slight change of geometry in the upper part,
- lack of several T-80UM1 specific details on the body and tower (sensors etc.)
- engine exhaust B / BV version (old)
Unfortunately, from the above list I was unable to improve the tank tower geometry. I noticed it too late. During work I used screws from Masterclub.
What has been done:
- built APU
- improved EAF
- added welds, replaced and added bolts on the tower
- separated DZ on side screens, added screws, deepened frames
- new barrel yoke cover
- improved exhaust
- complete wiring for all tank systems added
- added details / screws / cables on the sensors of the laser beam detection system
- Added correct Arena cabling
- made of brass sheet for mounting fuel barrels
- built imitation of the commander's sight
- completely converted NSVT, added cables, mechanism springs, sights fixing bolts
- needle antenna
- imitation of the cast texture on Arena blocks of cargo.
- tower basket made of wire
- new front rubber screens made of polystyrene
- improved connection of the upper body plate to the front plate of the tank body
- commander's and movable gun's hatches (maybe someday I'll put figurines there 🙂)
- improved details of the commander's reticle
- some handles made of wire
- replacement of covers for the track pulley bolt
- improved fender details - hinges, locks, buckles
- headlight frame made of wire
- and as usual, many dividing lines have been deepened for a better surface cut-off effect
- replaced / added fuel and electric wiring of the body
- fixed track bolts,
And I think that maybe there was something else, but I don't remember anymore ...
painting:
Due to the fact that I do not like kamo from the show in Omsk, I decided to paint it differently. I assumed that during early field tests it could have been painted the standard green that the tanks were painted at that time.
