Thank you mates!
It's a fast project again for a Facebook Group build event Vörös Június ( Red June) between 12.6 and 12.7. The main rule: build a Soviet or Russian manufactured vehicle/pláne. So I decided to build this little excavator...

Thank you mates for your interest!
Meanwhile I attached some lead wires as "hydraulic tubes" there are still some pieces to glue and I can start with the most interesting part: the painting

Looks extremely nice and full of details. I'm looking forward to the end result.

Thank you Shar. I hope I can paint it and do the base chipping today. 🙂

The little excavator got his colors. Now he is waiting to be chipped...

Yeah, that's the way it is suppose to look. The only slight issue I have are the hydraulic hoses. They look a bit too kinky. Being made frome rubber I would expect them to have a smoother routing. Probably something that can still be fixed.

![](/profiles/img/26775-480-s.jpg)
Thank you Michael for your remark. After checking the reference photos I realized that the hydraulic tubes are shorter than I made, so I'll replace them! Maybe I'll replace them with coper wire instead of lead wires so they won't be so kinky.

![](/profiles/img/user-s.jpg)
For my D9 build I used silicone tubes. They route nicely but attract dust like anything. So copper wire would be my choice too.

"Hydraulic tubes" are removed. 😉
I painted additional dirt and grime effects with oilpaints.

Amazing work, love the weathering all around! Also very finely produced model kit, lot to clean up?
21 July 2023, 05:10
![](/profiles/img/26775-480-s.jpg)
Thank you Edgars! It's still ca. 90% completed.
The kit 3D printed so the casted resin parts had some visible layering but not that bad, so I could remove them with some sanding. The casting qualiti is perfect, there was almost nothing to clean. Fitting the parts was also without any problems.

The building phase is done. Weathering process is also completed. Now I have to complete the base and the figure.

Congratulations Zsolt. I assume that award means something a lot more impressive than 'OK level'. It's certainly a vast amount better than just 'OK'. 😉

Congratulation for each and all of your medals! 👍

Liking the subtle shading of the painting. How is the underside of the shuttle? How did you address the tiles? The orange tank looks very convincing 🙂

Another build in the series "What's gorby up to now?" Be honest, though. The only reason you didn't have orange flares was that you couldn't get over the fence at the local airfield to steal a couple of windsocks!

That made me laugh John. 😄
Kesa: I like to buildodd looking vehicles some of which are converted from standard kits. I looooove scratch building.
Thanks both for tagging along. 🙂

![](/profiles/img/144821-523-s.jpg)
Scale models can be converted? So like a F111 model could be fitted with a nuke even though the original model didnt have one?
11 August, 09:03
![](/profiles/img/20442-422-s.jpg)
Definitely Kesa, there is a whole range of aftermarket conversions you can buy or if you are feeling adventurous, some conversions are reasonably easy to scratch build yourself. I have a couple of drawers full of plastic sheet of various thickness and plastic and metal rods, tubes, strips etc. I once saw a fantastic large scale scratch build of a B17 build that used the plastic from yogurt pots as the skin.

Thanks David, that might have been the reason. 👍
Thanks Spanjaard. That B17 is one of the best scratch-builds I've ever seen - well beyond my ability. I think he sold it to a museum in the US.

Got 40-ish euros, decided to cut my losses and just buy a few things. Heres the list: hobimaailm.ee/et/a/tamiya-cement-liim-40ml claypitrc.eu/en/a/st..sher-cold-dirty-grey claypitrc.eu/en/a/trumpeter-challenger-ii-1-35 . Gonna try weathering for the first time with the support of my mates gorby and martin oostrom. I know we're just strangers on the internet who have exchanged a few words but you've really made me feel like i can accomplish any model building dream i want. Thanks.

![](/profiles/img/20442-422-s.jpg)
I'm not the best person to advise on weathering as I don't really know what I'm doing and don't really enjoy that stage - if I ever achieve a decent result it's always by accident. 😄
Danumurthi Manendra, a Scalemates member recently posted something that might help:

And a lot of modellers think very highly of Uncle Night Shift:

Having said that, don't feel you have to produce award winning models. As long as you are enjoying yourself and you are happy with your finished model, that's all that matters.
Have fun with you purchases. 🙂

A very long time ago I built a Trumpeter Challenger probably related to this kit, it looked like this when finished: [img1]
I wish you good luck. It's better to seal the decals and not have them peeling off like the one on my dozer blade when you start weathering.
13 August, 07:00
![](/profiles/img/20442-422-s.jpg)
The trouble is that many of the weathering tutorials will assume you have an aribrush. It is possible to weather well without and airbrush, maybe look on Youtube to see if there are any suitable videos which may help.
