When I got a photo showing a Pz. I towing a Ju-87, possibly on an airfield in North Africa, I definetely want to build that scenery. The Pz. I is a mix of parts from S-Model Pz. I Ausf. A and B, the Ju-87 is Italeri. I bought some Quickboost add on parts which are designed to fit the Airfix kit, but with slightly modifications they although fit quite well the Italeri kit.

Łukasz, I was thinking the same. That 'old' Hasegawa kit isn't that bad after all. The MikroMir kit is only marginally more refined as it seems.

Hasegawa has only 60 grey parts and 3 clear parts, but it is pretty smartly made and easy to build. MikroMir has 150 grey parts, 5 clear parts and 67 mandatory PE-parts. Being a short-run kit its parts need more work to fit. Still MikroMir contains more details (and Falcon missiles) than Hasegawa so it's comparatively cheaper.

I have to update that MikroMir's IRST is not as good as Hasegawa's. The seeker head is a clear part and there is one PE-part fin, but the two-part frame is bulky and doesn't have panel lines. Luckyly the Draken version I'm goingt to make doesn't have an IRST so I used the clear part and the PE-part to improve my Hasegawa-Draken's IRST.

Thanks! @Rando I agree it is one of the most tough and riskiest parts. They took me 3 days because I wanted to make them pretty shiny with Humbrol Clear, but it takes lots of time to dry and it has become too thick. Next day when I check the clear parts they have some ugly residues and unevenness +hair. On the other part I just sanded and polished some minor points, but the other part I cleaned the varnish away with isopropanol and tried to dip it in varnish again. Next day still unevenness so I just sanded and polished them avay and dipped it in my more reliable floor polish that also dries faster.

Yeah I've always had that with dipping parts in the floor polish, it doesn't dry evenly for me so I just polish with Tamiya and Novus compound. Good to get over the hump and onto painting and decals!

Bad luck with painting. I have to redo the top surface by removing most of the paint. It was a bad idea to preshade yellow with pink.

I've had better luck using tamiya XF-3 or any other flat yellow and following with a gloss varnish.
Gunze gloss yellow, orange, white etc are virtually useless to cover anything.

Looks very good so far Cuajete. I think the Tuskegee airmen are under represented in kit form, particularly in 1/48. I had to use after-market decals to do mine.

Thank you very much. I used a mix of decals from Academy and Airfix kits.
For metal color I have used Lara's painting. No need thinner and previous primer. Unfortunately, is no longer manufactured.

Josu, he utilizado la pintura Lara Aluminio (la que no está etiquetada) para la capa base y Lara Acero para algunos paneles. Unifiqué ambos tonos con Lara Aluminio en una capa fina a baja presión.

I have used the Lara Aluminum paint for the base coat and Lara Steel for some panels. I mixed both shades with Lara Aluminum in a thin layer at low pressure.

Joshua, Thanks for your words. I also believe that Tuskegee Airmen deserve a tribute for everything they were able to do despite everything they had against them. I admire their ability to excel and how they gained recognition from those who saw them as inferior to the rest.
I'm sure that you can find Tuskegee's Airfix in second hand market, like eBay😉.

Nathan, many thanks. Academy's kit has some imperfections, but it's it is very rewarding to build. If I remember correctly, I used everything from the box, except the wheels I got from Airfix, some small pieces of the spare parts box and other things from scratch build. Decals are mixed from Academy's kit and Airfix. I would like to build another Mustang D with Tamiya's kit and a different paint scheme (may be camouflaged o green).

Neil, many thanks for your words. Lara was a Spanish metallic paint brand that stopped being manufactured a few years ago. It is a very good quality painting. Generally, no primer or glossy base is required. It is also not necessary to dilute and it covers quite well. Unfortunately now can't find in stores.

In case you need an alternative when you run out, I'm finding Gunze Supermetallics very good - but they need a primer. A glossy primer neneath gives a nice high reflective grain free finish.
