Is that maybe the old Humbrol metallic gray paint on the blue truck? I vaguely remember having such a Humbrol paint bucket.
Btw, I learned a trick off youtube. Vinyl tyres look better if you clean them with a swab dipped in alcohol, that removes the shine.

That's actually quite an achievement! I have to admit, it would've looked better with a colour, but I appreciate that time wouldn't allow. Maybe consider clear coating it, after masking up the clear parts? That would help protect the plastic, with age, and keep the prescious memories alive, that little bit longer?
Glad you enjoyed your time with your son. Hope he settles in Houston and continues with the hobby 🙂

My son wanted to do a speed build with me before he moves to Houston TX. I chose this kit thinking it would be fun and fairly easy. He's has only dabbled in model building, never really got into it. Two 4hr sessions and we competed the kit. We had fun doing it.
