It was meant to be finished just in-time for the 80th D-Day Anniversary, but life being life, few months later, I'm calling it done. Hawker Typhoon MN666 'CG' flown by Wing Cdr Charles Green, No.121 Wing, RAF Holmsley South, England and B.5 Le Fresne-Camilly, Lower Normandy, France, June 1944.
On the morning of 6th June 1944 Wg. Cdr. Green led the first Rocket Projectiles attacks on the German forces at the beach head. Green clocked 33 sorties on this aircraft before it was damaged by German shellfire on B.5 Advanced Landing Ground in Normandy and he took over a new Typhoon.
MN666 was retrieved from France, presumably for repair and it is known, that this airframe was operated by the Fighter Leader School at RAF Milfield (later RAF Tangmere). Circa in 1945, aircraft was transferred to 51MU at RAF Lichfield where after year of storage was scraped.
It was a very pleasant build. Finished with Tamiya acrylics. The only issue I had were the invasion stripes decals - they wouldn't conform to the Wing shape and surface, so decided to paint them ?
