Pz.Kpfw.I A
An old kit, but it seems to be a basis for a nice model.
These springs seem to be a prominent features in the running gear.
Scraping the plastic coils off and replacing them with copper wire was easy.
Idler wheels need lots of work. The holes aren't even centered.
Have to rework and detail many parts to get them to my liking....
The suspension on one side is done. Added wheel disks to the idlers with a rivet in the middle, a bolt on the front road wheel suspension arm, and some resin bolts (with washers) on the main suspension bar.
Thinning the fenders. The one on the left is done.
Big gaps in the turret's gun mantlet needed fixing. I use sheet styrene to narrow the opening. This was carved and sanded to shape later.
Used stretched sprue as weld beads
Just have to add the tools and then we can paint!
Added the base coats of paint and glossed it. Ready for decals.
All done.
