I also have this kit. I think if I ever get around to building it I will take the easy way out and get the eduard PE set 🙂

Look forward to your progress.

Roy,
I recently moved and still haven't set up my bench so might be a while before we see any progress. Too bad, too, because I was really enjoying this one. I thought about the photoetch but there's a fine line between investment and value added; even if I leave the canopy open, you still won't see much once the seat goes in. I wanted to challenge myself a little with this and to this point I was happy with the way it was turning out.

Jamie,
my intent for this one was an Argentinian from the Falkland Islands campaign; it's a battle that I have devoted a lot of study to. Thanks for the tip on your album. Once I got over the jealousy of you getting to such a great airshow, and seeing '558 fly, I really enjoyed the photos! 🙂 Love the Tiger jets and other special schemes, and always love seeing one of my old mounts (NATO AWACS #453)!

Jamie, I was privileged to spend 5+ years at the Component between 1993 and 1999. Never made it to a UK airshow as the crews for those assignments filled up awfully quick; if you weren't in good with the scheduler...
That said, I spent several weeks at Waddington and really got lucky to do 2 exercises out of Leuchars; great memories...

Peter, good point about the investment. Would it be worth it to just add a nice resin seat if that's all that can be seen?

Roy, replacing the seat is highly recommended if you can find the right one. It's a version of the MB Mk4 that's a little on the obscure side. There is one company that makes it, but it is very hard to come by (saw it once on ebay but lost); if I remember who makes it, I'll post it. I think in the meantime, I found a Pavla seat that is close if it's not the exact one. I'll try and get you the package number, because I don't recall it being referred to for fitting the SuE.

Peter if you make an argentinian plane the 3-A-202 y -203 has the more kill markings

Roy,
I think the most accurate seat to get might be the one from Hi-Tech (# 72505) but it is near impossible to find. The seat I ended up buying is actually from PJ Productions (not Pavla) #721209. The big thing to be aware of is that there are several versions of the MB Mk.4 seat available so you need to be careful when you shop to get the right one.

Jose,
thanks for the tip. I haven't decided which of the 5 aircraft I will do, but between the kit decals and the Aerocalcas set, it will probably end up being one of the two you mention. I have the book "Wings of the Malvinas" which is a great reference.

The 201 was used for spares and grounded. I have the book Falklands The air war and this is excellent!!!!!!!!! Be ware for the parrots insignia of Aerocalcas is too big, the same with the kits decal. You need the Condor Decals

Jose, thanks for the great tip on the Condor Decals! I think I remember seeing a review on them a while back and then I either forgot all about them or confused them for one of the other sheets that has recently been released. Will definitely have to order a set.
I have the book you mention already, though, and another 7-8 so no shortage of reference material!
