![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/9/9/5/66995-12589-23-pristine.jpg)
Found this online for £1.96 posted! (How do they make money on it?) So I thought I'd just snap it together, paint it & stick it on a shelf. As usual I got carried away...

Ditched the glazing and made the cockpit frames from some square rod.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/9/9/7/66997-12589-69-pristine.jpg)
Corrected the engine nacelle shape and shortened the cowling.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/9/9/8/66998-12589-14-pristine.jpg)
Made the exhausts from copper wire and the shroud from scrap rod.

Added some weathering and worked on the engraved lines with some thinned down ink.

Corrected the oil coolers plus I drilled and filed the undercarriage to make them look more realistic

The lillte turret was "fun" to paint!

Rear gun. Made out of some scrap plastic card, rod and even one of my hairs as the cocking handle, it was a nightmare to glue together but I got there in the end.

I has to drill out and file the window for it but it looks fantastic now it's fitted.

Painted a generic light & dark green upper with blue lower then whitewashed the upper. It took 8 coats of 20/80 thinned acrylic to get the effect using a tiny brush.

I even painted the turret gunner, (not that you can see him) and even gave him a "pink blob" face!
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/0/0/7/67007-12589-64-pristine.jpg)
The windows were all made using Kristal Klear.

Tiny! So what started as an afternoon project turn into 5 days of holding my breath too long and going cross-eyed numerous times but I'm really happy with it.

After painting it in a two-tone and blue camo, I gave it a couple of coats of Humbrol Clear. (Humbrol's version of Klear) I then applied Revell matt white acrylic thinned 20/80 paint to water with a small brush. I just did little brush strokes and swirls and ended up applying 8 layers before I was happy with the effect. I used a cotton bud dipped in IPA and squeezed dry to remove the white in some areas by gently rubbing it off.

It's affective how you did it. I've airbrushed the white on my Il-2 that you can see in my Gallery.
