Construction starts with the wheels and suspension. This kit gives you the option to have the vehicle in "conveyance" (air drop) or "action" mode. In conveyance mode, all the axles are folded up. I want action!
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/6/8/4/101684-12716-31-720.jpg)
Drop shackles are provided for the conveyance mode, but I'm doing "action". It seems like the shackles need to be hanging down or absent, so some cutting is necessary or they stick out too straight.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/6/8/5/101685-12716-83-720.jpg)
My reference photos don't show parts A24 anywhere (must be something used during the air drop), so I filled the holes for them, which are located behind the shackle brackets.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/6/8/8/101688-12716-42-720.jpg)
Everything is lined-up to my satisfaction, now 🙂
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/0/8/8/102088-12716-35-pristine.jpg)
The box art and my reference photos show a large antenna on the right rear, but the kit doesn't have it. Drilled a hole and made an inner ring for underneath.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/0/8/9/102089-12716-30-720.jpg)
Filled, sized, and smoothed around the hole. Scratch-built a base plate (to match the left side).
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/0/9/0/102090-12716-11-720.jpg)
Had to build-up the interior of the hole (left side). Compare that to the right side which was molded into the kit.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/0/9/1/102091-12716-53-pristine.jpg)
The base plate sits at the bottom of the hole, so there has to be an interior wall around the depression made by the hole.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/0/9/2/102092-12716-45-720.jpg)
Now it looks better.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/0/9/3/102093-12716-15-720.jpg)
It's getting there...
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/4/0/2/102402-12716-38-720.jpg)
Wired the smoke dischargers
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/4/3/9/102439-12716-27-720.jpg)
Ready to paint.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/4/4/0/102440-12716-38-pristine.jpg)
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/7/8/0/102780-12716-77-720.jpg)
First base color is a mix of US Desert Sand and White, to give the Chinese pale sand color.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/7/8/1/102781-12716-72-720.jpg)
I use "Silly Putty" for a mask, and added the Olive Drab color next.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/7/8/2/102782-12716-82-720.jpg)
After the Olive Drab was dry, I added more putty and sprayed the final base color, mixed from "Deck Green" and "Medium Green".
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/9/7/3/102973-12716-77-720.jpg)
Gloss coated, decals applied, and pin-washed
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/9/7/4/102974-12716-44-720.jpg)
Next comes dry-brushing, painting/adding the details, mud, and tracks.

It's a cute little beastie, but I wish there was a "walkaround" of it somewhere 🙁

Fast? Maybe, but at this rate it will take me 15 years to clear my stash 🙁

Great job George. Nice detail that you added. Silly Putty is a great mask and easy to find at the dollar store. Look forward to more pictures.
