Bell P-59 Airacomet
gap filling with putty, will sand tonight
had to fill a gap with styrene and sanded
After sawing off and re-positioning the tail, I re-puttied, sanded and then did the under-painting.
Finished model.
I used copper tubing instead of the lumpy & fat kit gun barrels
Another angle of the gun barrels.
A shot of the nose art
A shot of the troublsome tail
I added wiring to the back of the instrument panel, albeit a bit thicker than true scale.
The window showing the area behind the pilot, added more wires there too. Can't have too many wires!
I made a phony prop to hang on a gun barrell, like in some photos of the prototype.
The Bell company that developed the jet used a fake prop to disguise the plane while in development. Look it up! Interesting history.

I love off-the-wall topics, something different, interesting history behind it.
