O.K., you are the undisputed model master, albeit with a lot of time on your hands, not to mention imagination. Have you ever considered starting a blog or video site to share even your basic knowledge for others (and perhaps get some sponsors like some other model building sites and magazines)? I bet you have forgotten more than most know. I tune into Scalemates daily just to see what you, and others have done. Amazing.

Brent, I am quite chuffed by your comments and I am most grateful for them indeed. !! 🙂
As far as the blog is concerned, I really do not know how to go about creating one as I am not all that computer smart. :-/
A good friend of mine is actually creating a web site totally devoted to unusual model making and he has asked me if I would like to be a contributor to it, and as he is a keen modeller himself I quickly jumped at the opportunity to be there.
We have actually worked out an approach that will be presented to some of the manufacturers, asking if they would like to support our initiatives. 🙂
It is a strange story that goes with this diorama.
I was laughed at when I presented it at a competition and told that dolls and the like are for queers. !!!
It went to the table, but it was "hidden" by the organizers having it stuck way back from all the other dios. I was really pissed off at their attitude, but hey, some get really threatened by 1/6 modelling. :-/
I have been at it nearly all my life, and it has kept me on the straight and narrow. LOL 🙂
Cheers mate.
Kezza. 👍

Mmmh, don't know why I missed this so far. Nice scenery that represent the cold and ice very well. A lot of details and a very nice scratch build oven. Like it!

Thank you Christian, I/6 was a bit easier on the eye for detail but the figures kind of made it a little harder to create 'Atmosphere", but I had a heap of fun adding all I could. 🙂

Eric, the 1/6 figures were already "Painted" , but all I added was the unshaved look by using some pva glue smeared on the faces, then a thing called "flock" for the 'bristles and I then used powdered pastel sticks to colour/texture.
The 'characters are actually Dragon figures, and the uniforms and insignia and medals were sourced from all over the place.
Lot's of fun. 🙂 👍

i did not see this one before. but i certainly like it. specially the scratch build oven 🙂
great job Kezza
i like your idea of using what is a hand (like the nets). i have been collecting materials (some would call it rubbish) for a very long time 🙂
the result on the seat is amazing

Mr Spanjaard. You have the nicest way of saying things mate, and I really love that you like my work, as I try to do builds in a way that others say they want to see or expect. 🙂
I don't know why, but everything that comes within my line of sight, I look at it as something I could possibly use on a model. The netting for the shells was a freak thing, cleaning out my onion and garlic bin, the net bag the garlic was packed in found it's way into the diorama originally as a binding material for the mix I was making for the snow base, and as I was trial fitting the gun, I suddenly realised thet the size of the squares of the netting looked like it could be applied to the frame I had made, and before I knew it, I had the catch bag all stitched up, but the hardest part was working out the eyelets for mounting the frame on the gun. But it did work out ok.🙂

I love the imagination that went into this! Again outstanding! I must say though, whenever heat is applied to iron it rusts, so on that note I hate to say...on that nice oven you built I would expect to see some rust. just saying. Now from out of the gutter...the 3 main parts of a coal burning stove are.....lifter, legs and poker! LOl

Timothy. I really appreciate your rust suggestions, but it was not that easy getting that info from an old b&w image, and I would imagine that being in the dead of winter, rust would not have stood a chance, as the stove would have been going 24/7 I think. Coal or wood, who knows. And, it has handles. hehehehe But I should have added black burn/soot marks around the fire box area. The 'legs' are there, just a wee bit shorter than the usual stove I think. But anyway. :-/

I think so Kerry.
Ahem, please insert Sir Richard Attenborough impersonation here.
The "rivet counter" is an unheralded and slithering creature of the dark, completely unable to survive unaided in the spotlight of uninvited attention, it feeds off it's useless, unheralded, uninvited and ofter unhelpful criticism of other and often far better modellers by denigrating their imaginative and expansive work by nominating imagined failings in their hitherto supposed peer's creations by identifying a missing rivet, or in this particular case, the unnecessary distraction addition of simulated metal degradation.
That said, they didn't eat that well on the Easter Front! You should know better boofhead.
Flipping unbelievable representation of a daily and ordinary part of ordinary people in ordinary military life Kerry. I used to read the journals of 19th century explorers in Australia. The best descriptions contained in them were of daily camp life. The ordinary daily life of ordinary people in extraordinary situations. Love your stuff Kezza, can't get enough of it!

Derek. Would you believe that when I submitted it for 'classification' at a comp I wanted to enter, a scrutineer said, "This is not a doll house competition". And after agreeing I could put it in "Large Diorama" section, (Hastily created),, the diorama was placed by them after I had placed it where I thought the public had a good view of it, at the back of all the other tables and could hardly be seen. Was I pissed off. ? Well........say no more. :[/

Peter, Mr Attenbrough spoke in ways I can only say was of an eloquent nature and of great knowledge of the species. Leaving nothing to the imagination. Please pass on my thanks mate. :-0

Kerry, I have been described in the past by a few people as "intimidating" let me know his address and I will correct his attitude. What a wanker! Just resourcing the figures would have been a challenge! Stop the crows! Now I'm piss*d off!

Inspired by a photo I saw of a Flak-38 gun crew having something to eat while standing next to a "Field Oven" while snow is all around.
