Thank you, mates!
I like the 40s Ford basically a lot. It looks pretty cool. It's always a nice model kit 😄

Thank you!

@Bob ... The color was a rattle can by Dupli Color. In Germany we can buy it at OBI (a store for home handyman) or at Shops for car parts. It was aa color for VW. I have to look it up for the number. I hope, I have the rest at home. I found no picture with the rattle can beside the model kit 🙁

I appreciate it very much, thank you!
The first choice for the color was a darker green. When I painted the Ford, I ran out of the color. Then I bought the same rattle can and painted it again. The metallic parts came out totally different and it turned more to turquise than to green. Furtheron there are a lot of more colored spankles than in the "old" color. You can find gold, copper, violet. It's really nice. Not to speek, that the Ford sits in a Display case in my Office. Nearby some other model kits :*

Hi Christian, one more thumbs up from me!
What did you use as primer underneath the body color? I have used car paint rattle cans when clean and shiny finishes are required, but with varying success; I find that they are rather sensitive to what they are sprayed on.

Hi! I used a primer by "PrismaColor".
amazon.de/Schuller-E..Filler/dp/B007MO8VXA
I never paid that much of money! In some handyman strores they are available or through eBay for a third of the price on Amazon. It is a beige primer. On the first place it should be used to fill small dent or scratches. But I never use another primer often afterwards. After the beige primer I sand it wet. Not intensive. Only to get the larger surfaces smooth. I don't put a lot of work into the wet sanding. For metallics a Little more than for uni paints.
A lot cheaper: sonderpreis-baumarkt..rundierung-haftgrund

When I need to get another layer of primer, I sometimes use a Grey primer by Kwasny.
auto-k.de/de/lackspr..iversal-grundierung/
I'll get it like the beige primer online or in handymans store.

I use those paints since years and never had any issue with them. I can recommend them.

Hi Christian,
thanks a lot for your taking your time for such an exhaustive answer!
This Prisma-Color Filler stuff you are recommending sounds interesting - like Mr. Surfacer from a spray can. I think I will give it a try.

I see, it was a good choice to paint it metallic.

Album info

It was built of the Revell kit #85-2894 (scalemates.com/kits/158734-r..894-40-ford-coupe-street-rod)

What did I made?
- opened the trunk and added the floor & stuff
- shaved the body
- some wiring
- bumper, headlight bezels, grille and wheels painted with Alclad chrom
- frame painted with Alclad polished aluminum
- added the hood assy

While I built the Ford, I noticed, that the frame looked like the wheelbase was approx. 5mm to short. So I strechted it.

It made the 3rd place at the 5th Revell model built contest (Germany)
