Looks good so far Ferry. I'm interesting in getting the Airfix 1/48 Defiant. It sounds like there new 1/72 and 1/48 kits are well tooled.

Thank you gorbygould. Yes the 1/72 kit fits really good, and the details are crisp as well. I must say I'm also interested in the 1/48 version of this kit. But first finish this one.

It looks very good Ferry. I like this paint scheme variant. I have this kit also in my stash but I am not sure which variant I want to build. I like the flat black paint, which colour did you use for this? (Brand).

Thank you Marco and Alec. And yes Marco that was also the reason for me to build the nightfighter in all matt black. Just to keep things easy for me I used Revell Aquacolor Seidenmatt/silkmatt black 36302 to start. After all decals where placed I gave it a coat of Revell aquacolor clear matt 36102. A little weathering was done using dark grey pastels and a light dash of some colours (dark rust, silver and white) from the Tamiya weathering masters sets. The use of the dark grey pastels gave a used look and feel on the matt black paint.

Many thanks for your explain Ferry. My first nightfighter was the Airfix Bristol Blenheim Mk.IVF. I used the Vallejo 73.602 Black primer and it was planned to finish it with Vallejo 71.057 Black, but the primer looks perfect to me and I leave it just with the primer. But I think I try the Revell 36302 for the Boulton Paul Defiant. I used the Tamiya weathering masters at the first time at my B-17 project and I was very satisfied with the usage and the final result.

Very nice work and a lifelike painting. Not that easy to bring a black surface to life, but you kept it very well 👍

The new tooling of this kit by Airfix. Until now a very nice build. I think Airfix did a great job on the new tooling for this aircraft. The glazing of the cockpit and gun turret however could do with a little bit more of relief to make the masking somewhat easier.
