Showcase Collins Class Sub
Low part count but no flash and crisply moulded
Assembled in an hour except for the prop screw. The prop shaft manged to dissapear into the carpet monster while gluing the hull haves together
Very nicely moulded and engineered kit.
Conning tower is clear so you can mask the windows
Primed in Stynylrez it already looks veey nice. Weathering yet to come
Wanted to replicate a photo I found where Colin was very barnacled
The effect was not bad but very over scale
Barnacles scrapes off I tried some post shading
Post Shaded and ready for a clear coat
Decal time
The completed ship. Sad I could not achieve the barnacles but I think he still looks fine
Final salt effects

I'm glad you decided to "mow the grass" from your sub. Looks better in clean condition! I guess the navy will be glad to see the end of these troublesome subs soon too!

Picked this up at the model expo for $15 which is about a third the original retail price. Lovely moulded low volume kit from an Aussie manufacturer. Went together with no putty and only a little sanding. Hardest parts were all the periscopes, snorkel and poking up bits. They were just butt joined to the top of the sail so took some time to get verticle. Plus the sprue locations on the prop screw were hard to trim off without breaking the prop blades, which I managed to do.
