Nice job, I'm finishing up same kit now. What did you do to weather the midsection? That's what I'm trying to go for, and I mixed graphite powder into the black paint to give it a sheen when buffed with paper towel.

Florian: after decals, I covered with Tamiya semi gloss clear, TS-79. At that point, there's no weathering (you can see the pics in the other album, the building one). Then I did a sort of dot filter with oil paint, a mix of white and gray, thinned down. Sometimes I would dip the brush in thinner and apply a lot of it, which made it super liquid.

Makes perfect sense, I might give it a shot with oil paints if the graphite sheen on my model disappears after flat varnish application.

And this is the SR-71. I know it has some horrible issues, but it was just an experiment to get back into modeling, so, I'm happy with the results, specially the weathering (my first time ever weathering a model).
