Tomahawk progress
Cockpit finished 🙂, but no seat belts yet..
Riveting done!
Preshading and painting of all the small parts finished. Colors in the background will be used for the camo.
All prepared for the second camo color. I changed my mind for the dark brown I will use RAF brown instead of XF-68.
Camo finished! Colors look darker in the picture than they do in reality. The white balance on my phone camera isn't the best.
I seem to have misaligned the sharkmouth. Time to fix..
First a bit of red sprayed in the air intake.
Next, masking and spraying the black.
A couple of shark teeth was painted using the air intake channels. Also added some white paint where it was needed elsewhere.
Lastly, a coat of clear gloss to seal it in.
Everything is finished and awaiting the weathering step.
Tomahawk is finished.
Mirror is a piece of aluminium foil.
RAF 112 Squadron meetup 😉

I've started building the Airfix Curtiss Tomahawk Mk.II. I will do the sharkmouth version from the 112 squadron. Unfortunately, the PE kit I bought didn't contain any seat belts so I had to order them separately. So the build has ground to a halt as I don't want to seal the fuselage before the seat belts are mounted. More to come..😉

The seatbelts have arrived, so I've done some more work on the Tomahawk. Riveting and all base painting is finished. Next will be a clear coat and decals.

Björn, Is the pre shadowing really worth the effort. ? As I am old school who 'washs' the surface in an attempt to create that fine line weathering. 👍
But what I am seeing has still got me looking for more pop corn. 🙂 👍
Blu-Tac rules. 🙂

Thank you mates! 🙂
@Kerry, the pre-shading isn't that much extra work and combining it with post-shading I think it can give some nice result. Especially on the under side. Not so much on the top side when doing a camo pattern as on this plane, though, where I painted the colors on top of each other. I usually don't do that, but I was going to use a darker shade of brown to start with, and then when I changed my mind to go with the lighter shade, I had already sprayed the first layer.. I'm doing a wash later on also to enhance the detail and create some weathering effects. 🙂

I didn't get the fit of the shark mouth down right, so I will have to do some painting to fix it. I'm also thinking of doing some extra painting around the intake.

Björn, thank you for that little bit of info, as I am yet to try it, just to say I have had a go at something new. 👍

The sharkmouth is fixed! 🙂
A little bit of masking, spraying and hand painting with a bit of clear gloss over it and the shark grin is there. Next is assembly and weathering.

Great fix on that sharkmouth. I believe the sharkmouth decals never fit like it is supposed to. Good job Björn. Your P-40 already looks very good

Thanks James! 🙂
The Tomahawk is finished! 🙂 My first Airfix model was a really nice surprise. Fit and details were good and with the extra details from the Eduard pack it came out really nice, so I'm happy with it.
