As I was waiting for the base kit to arrive I went ahead and started experimenting with Tamiya Copper, Gold, clear yellow and orange for the gold coated canopies.

After a dip in Future.

The canopy has a gold sheen but is still transparent enough to look into the cockpit.

As I had my F-16 paint mule out I used it to test the mixing ratios for my intended Mr. Paint paints.

![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/6/2/5/561625-25429-38-720.jpg)
I also started working on the Tamiya F-16C AGM-88 HARM missiles.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/6/2/9/561629-25429-41-720.jpg)
The missiles and adapters are coming along.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/6/3/0/561630-25429-98-720.jpg)
Some decals on them already.

Darth Vader is keeping a close watch....
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/6/3/3/561633-25429-71-720.jpg)
The kits decals and sadly pretinted canopies... I was able to swap those for some clear ones with a club member.

Marked with a blue dot are the parts to be used for this build.

Some initial test fitting and having a close look at Bernhard Schrock’s build revealed some fit issues.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/6/3/6/561636-25429-18-720.jpg)
Let’s get some stabilizers done!
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/3/7/561637-25429-23-720.jpg)
Using the kit decals as a guide for the walkways...
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/3/8/561638-25429-51-720.jpg)
... I taped the walkways and stippled on some Mr. Surfacers 500.

The roughness is convincing considering the scale.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/6/4/0/561640-25429-50-720.jpg)
Sadly enough I wasn’t able to get the colors right and even got some nasty drips while airbrushing...
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/4/1/561641-25429-16-720.jpg)
... Nothing a little alcohol bath can’t fix. 😉

Off to the spray booth again!

The Pratt & Whitney calendar that prompted this build.

And a first comparison.

My idea of using the belly tank/pylon as a place to mount the plane on.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/6/4/8/561648-25429-54-720.jpg)
The idea is valid...
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/6/4/9/561649-25429-85-720.jpg)
... but needs some more attention to get everything squared exactly.
