Some very light putty/sanding is useful in some places but the fit and engineering is on a very high level overall and most of the seams are just glue and forget🙂. It is a great feeling to be building this out of the box with all those OCD crazy projects I have and the GWH cat is just a joy in this respect.

Vetry good to hear, as this is on my wishlist. Why do you attach the Hasegawa wings here? Because of the positionable slats and flats?

I am using the incredible GWH wings in my ambitious tomcat build and so this guy inherited the leftover from there

welcome guys and thank you. Daniel this build is definitely not gonna be accurate as NF100 is suposed to be late TPS alpha and I am gonna make it a HiViz Delta..🙂

I have to say it. GWH is the Tamiya of 1/72 Tomcats. Even compared to Finemolds, the little nuances in shape make it feel so much more like an actual F-14. Also the engineering and surface details.. incredible. sadly, the modeller building it keeps on making mistakes🙂

Martin - it looks very cool. How can I add your pics of next steps with this cat to the observed ones? Is there such possibility? I'm pretty noob here :-P

Jet's fleshing out nicely. the white base is difficult to put down as it takes a lot of spraying as opposed to black base which covers better. but its all for a reason. also i still can not get over how much it looks like a Tomcat as opposed to all the other kits. GWH really is a gamechanger. I have tobuild the Finemolds kit ASAP to see if GWH really is so much better than them

In picture 8 I see exactly what you mean. It surely has a better cockpit area shape. Please, tell us more about your mistakes to prevent them from being pitfalls in our future builds! 🙂

haha Patrick this is more of an ineptitude on my part rather than anything🙂
I'd say making sure the seats are in is important thing to do before gluing the canopy. 🙂
Making extra superduper sure the canopy is centered is also high on the checklist imo.
cleaning the parts is also important as they fit so well that any deeper cut results in the need of filling and sanding.
what really IS difficult on the kit side is putting in the gun vents and the other front fuselage inset with closed steps, their fit is good but not perfect and filling/sanding needs to be extra careful so as not to lose any of that delicious surface detail (I stumbled there quite badly).
positioning of the refuel probe cover is tricky
also I ruined some of the beautiful interior decals by touching them when they were being softened.
and try to avoid glue spills, that saves time too🙂
more to come🙂)

😄 So, basically the gun vents and the refueling probe cover then? 😉

yes, just that🙂 when they are inserted, they sink a little too much. I would maybe use something to put under them next time

Not entirely happy with the wash so I am gonna try to take some of it off. Otherwise, the decals look nice and the cat stands on its own legs now🙂
