Building the sword 1:72 Fairey Gannet AEW.3
The instrument panel is classically layered from PE, a film and the styrene backing
The cockpit comes fully furnished with the kit
This kit has the added resin radar operators´ compartment, nicely sculpted and cast.
To get some view of the interior, the access hatches need to be cut open.
This kit needs a LOT of weight to prevent tailsitting. Luckily there is enough room ...
Mating the fuselage halves is not an easy match, rather one that is on the reluctant side.
There was some short shot on one propellor hub part, but Apoxie Sculpt helped.
The completed and massive propellor assembly.
Closing the canopy.
I preshaded the model in Extra Dark Sea Grey
Followed by an uneven application of Sky Type S.
And a goodly amount of masking.
Which worked out quite nicely in the end.
Halfway through decaling.
The squadron badge is visible in the decal placement guide.
But missing from the decal sheet.
I scanned a printout of the badge from a book, had it printed on transparent decal film and sprayed the decal location white.
The homemade decal did work.
Applying .1 mm Albion Alloys Nickel Silver wire for the antennae. I find that stuff quite in scale, hopefully.
