Airfix | 05112 | 1/48 | BAe HAWK 100
2020/21: OOB build of the vintage '03 Airfix 1/48 kit.
I'm not actually a big fan of historic Airfix kits. Bit of fettling is usually required to ensure a good fit in my opinion and they nearly always have a mass of moulding injection sink holes.
I just made all of this up! Painted it in a (sort of) realistic manner.
Clear Tamiya and a white wash used for the display panels. Added a bit of ageing to the cockpit here and there also...
Fitted!
Priming and filling and re-filling mould/injection sink problems. I see this a lot with the old Airfix kits. Everything is Vallejo primed.
Bit of (bad) re-scribing here and there.
I've tried several techniques here to try and get some tonal variations in the flat finish. Hand painting, airbrush painting and pencils...
Dipped and masked canopy.
Getting there...
And we're done! 🙂 I left canopy removable.
Packaging my build up today - took the opportunity to re-take my earlier poorly lit photos - this shows the final colour scheme blue much better...

Album info
Hi there,
Thanks for stopping by to view my latest build #11 the BAe HAWK 100.
I build straight 'out-of-the-box' endeavouring to show the build journey in as few photographs as possible - this is my reason for utilising montage imagery to help reduce the image count of an album.
This build was uploaded on the 5th August 2021.
I hope that the you find my build journey informative.
