The Friul tracks are first assembled then soaked for a minute in Muriatic acid, then soaked in cool water to remove/stop the acid. makes a nice dull base that accepts paint or washes. I often use Tamiya Brown Panel Liner brushed on to give the look of lightly rusted/discolored tracks.
