Hurricane Progress

Album image #1
All the parts for the cockpit before assembly. THe only after market addition are the Seatbelts from Eduard. There are non-painted photo etch seatbelts in the Italeri kit, but I opted for the ones from Eduard.

Album image #2
Cockpit assembled. Also the hatch/door has been painted.

Engine finished! Really nice OOB details in this kit. The color used for the engine block is my favorite Mr.MetalColor 214 Dark Iron.

The engine and the cockpit has been glued into the fuselage.

Album image #11
The fuselage halves have been glued together.

Album image #12
Next I will glue on the wings and horisontal stabilisers and then glue on the hatches with pva glue so I can paint the plane with them on.

Album image #13
The whole body is assembled and pre-shaded before masking for the camo.

Album image #14
I left the underside a little darker than the top side.

Album image #15
Result after spraying the first color of the camo.

Album image #16
I'm only masking along the camo lines as I don't think there will be much overspray. Result after spraying the second color.

Album image #17
Resulting camo scheme. I've also finished the propeller.

Album image #18
Album image #19
I unmasked the cockpit as I can put on the canopy for the rest of the paintwork as I have now sprayed the part that would be covered by the canopy.

Album image #20
Decals are on! 😉

Album image #21
I have also finished all the small parts.

Album image #22
I added hydraulic lines to the gear, by using aluminium wire that I sprayed with my favourite Mr.Color Super Metallic Silver SM01.

Album image #23
I also added the extra parts for the gear in the wheel wells.

Album image #24
Rear gear added. 😉

Album image #25
Gear assembled.

Album image #27
Ready and waiting for some weathering.

Album image #28
The Hurricane is finished!

Album image #29
The left hatch is separate and can be taken off.

Album image #31
The top, and side engine cowlings are separate and can be taken off to show the engine. I did a miss with the right side landing light. It started by glueing it in upside down, and when I had removed it and removed the glue stains by sanding and polishing, it had become a little too small. I'm not happy with the result, but it will have to do.

I used Molotow liquid chrome for the mirror. I think it was really successful. 🙂

I've started the work on the Italeri Hurricane. So far I'm really impressed with this little kit. Nice Details, poseable ailerons, and an engine with cowls that can be both open and closed. At the moment only the cockpit is finished. 🙂

Thanks, Sergej! 🙂
This was the first one for me, also. As it's such an iconic airplane, I felt that I had to have one.
