Trumpeter 1/32 F-18F Super Hornet
First step in making some sidewalls. Totally lacking in this kit and if not installed you will have a see through effect.
The end result.
First time using Red Fox 3D upgrade set.
Some fine tuning of the kit parts. The detail level is that of 1/72 kit.
Ading some extra details to make it more interesting and accurate.
Chose to paint the pit after installing the Red Fox inserts and masking them with Maskol. This way I can match the gray of the pit.
A lot of big seams to fill. Using black cyano for this task.
Again some extra details.
Some big gaps to fill in the wingots.
First try using Mr Surfacer and wiping it with ipa.
Mr Surfacer didn't work well for me so now using cyano.
Painting of the air intakes before installing the painted second part of the intakes.
Again some big gaps to fill.
Quality control passed.
Installing the pit before buttoning up the complete fuselage.
And again the pesky gaps to fill.
Some extra reinforcement to get minimal fit issues.
Some more reinforcement
I'm using a lot of black cyano on this build.
And some more gaps. This time filled with plasticard.
It won't lay down as it should.
Using some heavy duty clamps to get everything to fit as it should.
Fabricated a spacer to get minimal gaps in the wing root.
Removed some plastic in preparation for installing Aires burner cans.
And no surprise another big gap to fill. Although this time it is possible that it was my own fault.

Spanjaardblack cyano on picture 60 got me really confused. for a second i thought... what butchery is he doing now?? black seems almost as a huge gaps, when actually it is the absence of a gap 🙂
great work so far. lots of work, but it will pay off at the end.

Eric JuvynsAfter a lot of filling, sanding and rescribing it was time to give it a primer/filler coat of Mr Surfacer. This was lightly sanded to get everything smooth in preparation of the painting to come. Next up is preshading.

Eric JuvynsI finished this kit last april and finally got around posting the pictures. I don't have decent pictures of the finished model. And as the model has been turned over to it's new owner I wont be able to take extra pics.
One importnat thing to mention is that the figures are not build by me. I got those from the client who had someone else make them. Not the best idea because I had some trouble getting them to fit in the seats and cockpit. But in the end I got it done.
Next commission is Tamiya's 1/32 F-15E Strike Eagle with some goodies.
