Flying Tigers - AFV Club 1:144
There's no cockpit in the kit, so a little scratch building goes a long way..
Drilling out the exhaust pipes with a PCB drill bit
With seatbelts and a quick paintjob and wash
Time for masking and painting
With the main paintjob complete and decals added
The cockpit detail is reasonably well visible through the canopy, but so small it is a challenge to photograph with my old phone camera.
With an antenna aerial rigged and some OPR
The AFVClub 1/144 Flying Tigers P-40B joins its big brother - Airfix 1/72

Whoah! A really beauty! I just did one of those too, so I know a good job when I see it! Voir et Savoir 32 - P-40B | Album by strobez (1:144) - I screwed up the rear part of the canopy… the glue just got sucked in and made a mess.
I love the cockpit details. On mine, i stuck a pilot and a motor for the prop, so no room for anything more, but I love the details you were able to add. Nice upgrade!

Thanks Greg. Yes, I found your build as I was uploading this. Its brilliant, and I was amazed by the motor; I didn't even consider it a possibility given the lack of space!! For such a small subject in 1:144 I was very impressed by the detail and fit of the kit, though when I put it beside the Airfix .. I have questions (like who is correct about the direction of prop rotation haha!)

Yeah, AFV Club makes some great 1/144 kits with amazing details. I've got a few more in the stash, just raring to go. Hard to build 1/72 kits right next to 1/144 kits… they get intimidated. Best to let them flourish on their own. 😉

Thanks Erik. This was literally a weekender. Nice thing about small subjects is that they don't need long term commitment😉
