Messerschmitt Bf-110G-4 "2Z+FR"
Aircraft at Neubiberg Airport, missing engine and nose panels, as well as a collapsed right wing.
As it was found at Neubiberg airport by the Allies in the spring of 1945, the aircraft had the rudders roughly painted white, with some of the original RLM76 showing through, though i am not sure when this was done. I assume it was prior to the aircraft's abandonment.
Aircraft belonged to Wilhelm Johnen, commander of NJG. 6, and it was the last aircaft he flew. Equipped with FuG 220 SN-2D radar and two 20mm Schrage Musik cannons, just in front of the rear gunner. Painted in overall RLM76 and RLM75 mottling.
Cockpit parts assembled and ready for paint.
Cockpit parts painted.
I've used tamiya XF-22 and XF-75 rougly 4-1 ratio to achieve RLM66, then a brown wash.
There was a gap underneath the flaps, filled with acrilic putty.
Landing gear and bays painted up, color is closer to RLM02 in real life.
Engine nacelles sat too low and created a step with the rest of the wing, solved by glueing a couple of styrene pieces underneath the wing as shown.
Much better fit now.
Mottled paint scheme complete. I used Mr. Hobby RLM76 and RLM75, then sprayed a very thin coat of RLM76 to reduce the contrast in the paint job and create a misty finish.

Time to start my next project, i will use the eduard weekend edition kit straight OOB with maybe some custom cut masks (original eduard masks are too expensive tbh). Also, i won't lie, i bought this kit just for the box art.

I will build the aircraft as it was still in service, so no missing or broken parts.

Hello everyone, i'm back with this project. In all fairness i've forgotten to take any pictures of the complete build or the initial coat of RLM76, but to be fair nothing of note really happened. Just be careful with the canopy parts since they're a tricky assembly. This is my first time painting mottling and, even though it's not the best, i think it's tured out OK. More updates soon.

And she's now finished! Unfortunately a few pictures came out quite hazy, i'll ake some more in the future. In the meantime, thanks to everyone for following this build, it's been a ton of fun and the end result, i have ton say, came out excellent! (at least for me 🙂).
