T-34/85 service in Bulgarian(then Royal) Army started with the formation of Second Armored Brigade in January 1945.
65 ex-Soviet vehicle built in Factory 112 were alocated to the Brigade after March 18th 1945, to commence staff training.The tanks were stationed in Plovdiv.
398 T-34/85 tanks were delivered between 1946 and 1948, these-together with the remaining Pz.Kpfw. IV- formed the backbone of Bulgarian(since 1947-People's) Army's armored forces.
In the 1950's another almost 600 T-34/85 were delivered, thus bringing their total to 1000+ vehicles.
They were replaced by T-54/55 in the late 1950's.
