I would like to realise two of the three markings from the kit, one of which is an F.13 celebrity of the first hour: "Annelise" (without the long "I") 🙂
The first round of the build is currently progressing without any problems... although I am already aware of some fitting difficulties! I enjoyed the seating: open air in the front and the fight for survival, in the good little parlour in the back, old-school leather interior and a ticking wall clock while sipping tea!

As always, Roland looks very good up to here. How is the fit of the wing trailing edges?

Thank you both very much! Dieter for your kind reply, I can't say yet, as I'm still busy assembling the hull - but I'll keep you and you up to date!

In view of the start of this build, I was tempted by the following motto: "From ugly duckling to swan": the kit offers a number of interesting challenges, but gives an idea of the potential both as a model and as a representation of a true aircraft beauty! I will try my best to make the swan appear....
A first challenge: roughly moulded parts, poor fit and a wing that wants too much in a positive V-position.... A second challenge will follow in the form of a Vacu canopy that has turned yellow with age; this will give me the opportunity to try out the doing in Vac-canopy myself. More of that next time...

I didn't dare to cut main weels bays, I just swore loudly at Trumpeter)
And there are some other remakes need to be done to make "A' from this model...

Many thanks , mates 😉
For those who wish to assemble this model, it will be necessary to plan a little surgery on the main landing gear bays.
Other than that, I will say that the kit is better than Italeri or Fujimi but that's just my opinion. The level of detail is much higher than the other two

Jaw dropping detailing -as usally! All looks so easy and still perfectly clean and we all know how hard this is (especially in 72) - great job!

Many thanks,
For the moment, I don't find any difficulty in building this kit.
I only used putty in the air intakes, the fitting is quite good

Thanks Alek 😉
Dearest readers,
For those who would like to build this model but are not happy about having to open the gear hatches, you should know that these famous hatches can be closed on the ground. Yesterday, I found a photo which attests to the thing in the book "lock on" by Verlinden. These hatches are closed manually by the ground mechanics during a prolonged stop of the plane, a sort of storage, this avoids FOD. Of course, this is very rare, but nevertheless it is possible. Also, it's up to you 😉

Beautiful work so far, especially love the paint scheme with tan nose - that's what I'd like to build as well. I found some pictures with the "NE" on tail in the same paint scheme, so hope to avoid aftermarket decals. Just got the same kit, so have to follow this thread 🙂
Is the "Hobbyboss" in the album title a joke or a mistake?

Trumpeter's decals are very crude, especially the lettering. The roundels are all the same size while in reality the wing roundels are larger than those on the fuselage. If you can, get the KA-6D intruder decals from Italeri which are printed by Cartograf.

Great job Ronan! 👍 What would you say, a comparson between the Trumpeter and the old Italeri kit?
6 August, 14:04
![](/profiles/img/11807-s.jpg)
Many thanks,mates 👍
@Harry : i would Say that neither is perfect. The Trumpeter one is much detailled but the italeri IS not so Bad . I would say you need a box of each to make a nice intruder. From Italeri you Can get the decals, the wheels, the main Gear doors, the ordonnance...
That's why i bought two New italeri intruders 😂

These pictures start a build that gives me my first experience with 'Clear Prop' - and they are good ones! The fineness of the shapes, the accuracy of fit and the meaningfulness of the construction steps seem to combine to create a pleasurable building experience!
This plane is also highly interesting: originally derived as a drone for shooting practice from a small civilian predecessor model, hundreds were pulverised in the air. Some of those that survived this use went on to have an amazing career as light sports aircraft and enjoyed great popularity in the 1940s.

Hello mates! How nice that this small but lovely project has your interest and positive feedback! Indeed, a brand new kit that immediately caught my interest when I stumbled across it - so it ended up on the workbench straight away.
To answer the question about the current density of my projects: on the one hand, I sometimes wonder myself 🙂 On the other hand, I suspect that it has something to do with running three or four, maybe even five (at the moment, for example) projects in parallel . Something is 'always' being finished or started.

![](/profiles/img/10148-258-s.jpg)
I made the following preparations for the bright red of the final surface: first I applied yellow followed by a layer of white to the model. After drying, I sanded this base, which should make the following red "glow", with 1000, 1200 and 2000 grit sandpaper to make the colour layers more transparent again, to get a smooth surface and to find any flaws - you can see a few exposed on the fuselage and tail unit. I am surprised by the very high quality of the kit and look forward to finishing it!

It looks like the Culver PQ-14 is ready! This was a most enjoyable project from start to finish. I am delighted with my first "clear prop" kit and I enjoyed the unusual history of the original. I made the seat belts and the aerial wiring, everything else can be found in the beautifully finished kit.
Thank you for your interest and your helpful and motivating comments!

Beautiful! Great work as always... 👍 And also: thanks for showing this - it gave me the opportunity to revisit Culver's lineage: the Culver Dart, Cadet, Model V... the role played by Al Mooney... the PQ drones... Lovely!

I spent quite a bit of time with jagged camo.
There is no special method, just patience.
Looks like a success now, just need a little patch.

Thank you Finn for your introduction. This is the first time I know the name of this camouflage, and I also found its introduction in the WIKI. I try to write a short story of this interesting camouflage in Traditional Chinese and will introduce it to my Taiwanese friends.
You can watch it by Google Translate:

Thank you Spanjaard, Łukasz, Andy, Vincent and Patrick. Now I know that this camouflage is called Splinter camo in English. WIKI also has a article to introduce it. I still love the word "lövhög" , because it is beautiful.
en.wikipedia.org/wik..r_pattern_camouflage
I called it "鋸齒狀迷彩" before this discussion. In Chinese "鋸" means saw. "齒" means tooth.
So, I wrote it as jaggled camo before. I thought that the opposite is smooth type camo just like south east asia camouflage. 😄

Impressive camo, even more so, as you obviously didn't use special masks.
7 June 2023, 16:46
![](/profiles/img/73194-710-s.jpg)
Been 2 days thinking about how you did this beautiful camo, in terms of which color must be applied first, how you shape the masks and so on. In the end, my conclusion is: magic!
7 June 2023, 16:55
![](/profiles/img/52831-633-s.png)
Thank you Michael, David and Neuling. I used the most stupid method to do the masking slowly. It does take a lot of time. I paint the dark green first, then light green and tan. Finally paint the black.
