Tamiya Panther G late.
This is the tank I will be modelling. Early 1945 in Hungary.
Grandt Line bolts added to exhaust brackets.
RB models barrel used. Superb detail on muzzle and machining grooves on barrel look great.
Photo etched grilles sprayed with black Gunze primer. First time using Tamiya grilles-superb quality.
Lead and armoured conduit added for headlight.
Striker plate added to lower hull. When I did a test fit of the Friul tracks, they actually hit the plate on the pins. Talk about serendipity!
Cupola and other details added to turret.
Royal Models resin periscopes added to cupola.
Roughing in the second camouflage colour on the hull.
Refining the three colours. I have cleared up the overspray for the dunkelgelb and olivgrun. Will fix up the rotbraun in a few days.
First time using AK Real Colors. Very impressed with the colours and ease of spraying.
All three colours sprayed and pattern tightened. Enjoying the camouflage while I can. Will be covered with a weathered whitewash soon.
Pleased with the colours and pattern.
Firestorm figures completed. Very pleased with the Passion Models decals. Went down beautifully with Mr Setter and Mr Softer.
Figures are okay. Poor sculpting on some of the faces is the main letdown. Trying to get the right skintone drives me mad. Only third attempt at figures, so still a learning process
Started the winter camouflage process.
Pleased with the patchy effect and stripes.
Continuing work on the hull to give it a nice "ratty" look.

Thank you Spanjaard and Villiers. Yes, a classic indeed, but as always with a few issues. As the saying goes "some days a diamond , some days a stone". Today was a stone...

The issues I found were with the lower hull and the rear panel. These have to be carefully lined up or it can affect the fit with the upper hull. The turret was slightly warped which affected the fit with the turret ring and how it sits on top of the hull. The most annoying issue so far is the fitting of the side skirt brackets to the frame and the frame to the hull. The sprue gates for the brackets are on the mating surface so if you don't file them perfectly flat, they are out of line. And in a complete brain fart on behalf of Tamiya they designed the kit in such a way that if you attach all the tool racks etc on the the right hand side of the hull using the mounting holes, it prevents you attaching the side skirt frame properly, because the tools end up too low on the hull side. In the end I had to break off the jack block and some of the tool clamps to make the frame fit on the side. Not happy!
