Hobby Boss Su-34 "Hellduck"
Important, when adding a quinta studio set, you have to work both instructions, the model one and the quinta one side by side to see, where to remove the detail‘s from the plastic.
First steps are done. Removed all the displays and buttons.
Frontgear Bay with the sliding hatch to enter the cockpit. You can build it, that the hatch is working but i keep it closed, because there is nothing behind it. ?
Maingear Bay
Little polishing
Here i tried greenstuff for the first time to imitate the cover i seen in some images but i didnt liked the result so i took it of.
Painted the interior with the Russian Cockpit color from akan. The color is extrem thick and doesnt like the ak thinner so i try Tamiya the next time.
The akan color is darker then the quinta parts
First steps are done. The Quinta studio decals are everytime awesome.
The cockpit is evolving
First seat done, looks awesome.
The rudder pedals are really nice.
There is no clear part for the hud so i used microscale kristal clear. Love that stuff.
Cockpit is done so far.
The Cold War Studio APU fits nice and the instructions are good
The Hobby Boss nose had to go
The new nose from quickboost, first time for me to cut a model and quickboost has no instructions where to cut so i had a massive gap.
But greenstuff safed it, now i leave it to dry and then i can smooth it.
It‘s coming together.
First time using akan colors, they are unbelieveable thick but with Tamiya thinner it worked ok for the first try.
The intakes from Hobby Boss sukhois always suck. Doesnt fit at all.
Little AK extreme metal for the nozzle.
Plan for the coming days, sanding….
Almost forgot the rest of the Cold War Studio APU.
Black is beautiful, using Mr. Surfacer 1500
First Color is on
First try with the DN masking, it’s ok but the instruction could be better. Still need some work for a good paintjob. But now letting it dry.
The akan colors need alot of thinning, mr. Hobby and Tamiya thinner didnt work well. The best for me was the AK thinner.
First coat of varnish is on, now comes the worst part…. Decals decals decals
I have some silvering problems with the begemot decals. Even with Micro Sol and set. I tried a trick from the internet to solve the problem.
Used Mr. Color leveling thinner and the result is quite good. On the other side i need a little repaint…. Used a little to much 🙁 but fixable
Upperside and both sides are done with all the marking stuff, now the undersite.
The decals are way to ''bright''? In RL Images you can barely see the markings…

We have decals on yeah, begemot had some wrong numbers or missing decals in the instructions but i figured it out.
The red Star on the left wing is the second one, on all decals i used Tamiya mark fit super strong but the red decals had an extrem reaction to it and completly crumblet together and didnt recover.
Then i used Micro Sol and it worked good.
Ah and we have wheels, the landing gear is a bit tilted backwards so the front wheel from the main landing gear is a little bit floating but i will find a solution.
Started with the missles and rockets
Little Update
AK Black Panellinewash
And againe learned a new thing……….. tape the outside of the canopy, when you are done with the inside. Didnt saw that it was that dirty because i already had masking tape on the outside……
Nice Images will follow but calling it done ?
Little update, someone tought it would be a good idea to grab the model by its nose to take a closer look and tore off all the sensors………and not telling me, instead throwing the parts away.
I bought the cold war Studio nose because it has all the sensors and also the A312 antenna.

Nice progress, I also like the aftermarket you have there!
How is the overall experience with the resin replacements? Anything specific to look out for?

Nice progress DuperScale, beautiful colors...but what do you mean by the Tamiya and Gunze thinners didn't work well...? Do you mean together with the AK paint?

Thanks jos, with the gunze and Tamiya thinner the akan Color dryed on the nozzle of the airbrush. The AK interaktiv thinner worked fine with the colors from akan, for me at least.

Again, great progress, looking very menacing already! 👍
What where the numbering issues you encountered with the Begemot decals?

Thanks guys, @Alexander overall there just little failures in the instructions. The decal is with number XXX is obviously not the one shown in the instruction or there 4 times number XXX but only 2 times on the decal sheed because its not 4 times XXX, it is 2 times XXX and 2 times XY.
But it is really only on small decals and from 100 decals is maybe 1 fail.

That is a real beauty. The colour and the camo together are an amazing combo.

Phänomenal Su-34. You did it really well. 👍👍👍👍
I would also like to have a Su-34 as a kit, I like this aircraft and it is missing from my collection (I am a fan of the Su-27 and its derivatives), but I find the kits ( in 1/48 scale ) very expensive and disproportionate in price , which is why I haven't bought one yet. 🙁

Amazing result, very clean paintjob and good weathering! 👍
Also great photography together with the base, it really adds to the realism/effect (such as pic. 78). 👍
