Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis
Wiring and hoses added to the cockpit
Added about 30g of weight.
The kit comes with a nice base miniature of the XLR-11 rocket engine. I don't want to hide it inside the fuselage forever.
Since I will keep XLR-11 out of the fuselage, I need to copy it's outlet part. So I created a mold with Blue Stuff and used Milliput to copy the original part..
The wheel wells covers have minimal details so I added a few hydraulics based on photographs of the original aircraft.
Based on photographs of the original rocket engine, I added painted the detailed engine model.
Since the side hatch cover will not be glued, some details missing from the kit have to be build from scratch.
Added details on the side hatch.
The broomstick was moved to the fuselage opening side (to be visible).

John, unfortunately no. However, the kit comes with a broomstick! Such a shame that it is hidden by the pilot.
This little detail is a reference to the broomstick Yeager used as a handle to close the X-1 hatch before flying past the sound barrier!

1. Added some hydraulics on the wheel hatches.
2. Painted the engine. Probably I will not add any more details on the engine.
3. Added details on the side hatch and moved the broomstick to the fuselage opening side (to be visible).
